What is your opinion on Satanic philosophy, as told by Anton Szandor LaVey? (Rest in peace, you incredibly interesting person. Shemhamforash!)
And I'm not just asking this to be 'edgy'. I'm serious.
well, I'm not part of that group and i know not much about him. i can however say, knowing relevant knowledge that like him or not we need him. he should get a medal. seriously. What thing would have the strength of the likes of him to try and keep hell in one piece. He's very special, but I'm not one to pray to him by killing goats and sacrificing there heart on the "altar of sacrifice". what band does that song? and bonus point for the album name.
Hm. I'm glad you aren't knee-jerk hateful, as most people are when I bring this up. However, I feel the need to say that it goes against Satanic belief to sacrifice living creatures; we never kill needlessly, especially not for a ritual.
And, um, what band are you talking about? I don't believe we are on the same page ...
oh OK then. BTW it was Slayer, Album Reign In Blood. but seriously what do you think of this "Satanic" stuff? because it seems you have a good understanding of it...
What do I think of Satanism? I fully agree with the philosophy; in fact, I would describe myself as a Satanist, and not one of those faking jerks who wear inverted crosses, either. An actual Satanist, who owns 'The Satanic Bible', written by the man I mentioned earlier, Anton LaVey (A fascinating book, by the way). He was the founder of Satanism as I know it.
Oh, and to clarify, Satanism is not devil worshiping. That's something else entirely.
As to my actual thoughts on it, I honor the philosophies it promotes, but it pisses me off to see people going around claiming to be Satanists just for the shock value, who don't even know who Anton LaVey is. They don't know what they are saying about themselves when they call themselves Satanists, and know nothing about the religion. It's people like that that keep it from being taken seriously, the way it deserves.
Also, it's a little difficult to call it a 'religion', because there aren't any religious beliefs; nothing concerning gods or the afterlife. Satanism is really just a philosophy for living your life here and now.
Of course, that begs the question "Why is it named after Satan if they don't believe in deities?" It's named after Satan because of what he represents from a purely objective standpoint: the seven so-called 'sins', all of which ultimately lead to physical or emotional gratification. Really, Satanism is about reaching your full potential while still indulging yourself the pleasures of life, because this life is all we're getting; only the fools would squander it by abstaining from sex, good food, and the chance to be lazy (Anton didn't think much of Christians, that much is obvious). In Anton's words, "I do not believe in Satan in the literal, physical sense, but more as a reservoir of power to be tapped at will (here he is referring to Satanic magic) and a symbol of human right to seek the carnal pleasures of life."
I edited a little, so it would be easier to understand, but that's essentially what he said.
Wow, I typed a lot ... Get me going on Satanism and I can talk for a while.
In a nutshell, I agree with and practice true Satanism. THAT is what I think of it.
Oh, and 'Shemhamforash' is an old Herbrew word meaning 'the explicit name' or 'the evil name'. It's used in Satanic rituals, in case you were wondering.
