(there is another video related to it without commentary if you prefer)
Looks like the game is really shaping up well to me. Gaurds are no longer blind to hide spots and you no longer carry an armoury of weapons at all times - you have to steal them from enemy hands. This actually makes you a half subtle assassin this time around.
It also seems to me that the mission shown isn't a true assassination target and instead just a side mission hopefully, meaning perhaps all the pickpocket/eavesdrop crap will be replaced with assassinations.
I am really loving the weapons and gadgets shown in the video - 30 different types of weapon in the full game, smoke bombs, veichle sections, dual hidden blades and (from what seems to be the games opening cinematic trailer http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-assassins-creed/50141 ) a hidden pistol for those hard to reach targets.
What I'm most intrested in though is how Leonardo Da Vinci is being roped into this assassin background, as in the video the commentator says he is one of Enzio's friends and creates gadgets for you (perhaps he's like Q from 007 movies).
And THANK GOD they gave the ability to swim in this one - I was so sick of drowning in the Jerusalem sewers in the first Assassin's Creed.
So how do you guys think the game is shaping up and what do you think should/shouldn't be in it?
There don't seem to be that many advances over AC1, and those that are completely turn me off. I'd much rather just be killing stuff as a normal man than messing around with flying machines. Part of the joy of the fisrt one was the exploration of the city, and stuff like that kills it.
What's also VERY lame is that they appear to have continued to bookend assassinations with cutscenes. I could deal with it, if it weren't for the fact that the actual assassinations are obviously so scripted. I'd prefer something where you have to plan an attack, including taking into account your target's routine, rather than always confronting him in the same place. It meant AC1 had no replay value and I'm guessing AC2 will be the same.
Also, Desmond Miles is about the lamest character ever. :-(
I really really want to love this game.. When I heard it was set in Venice I was so excited.. but now..
