This is based on some hints from Ubisoft's Facebook game: Project Legacy. The game is divided into memory sets such as Rome/Italian Wars. the most recent is called Holidays. Despite the name, it actually features the events of "Silent Night" during WW1. In addition there are also missions featuring the Beagle 2 probe and The English Civil War
Previous sets have been in full continuity with the games featuring uncle mario and the pieces of eden.

So good people of the escapist, I ask you, what do you think of this? Me Reading too much into it? Or the potential for a modern Assassins Creed 3?

Hey now, Everything has potential. If they twist this into somekind of awesomeness, then great. However if they fuck it up completely, well feel free to condemn them.

I still think that the next one should be set in either feudal Japan, 1800s New York, or in the future with a portal gun and Desmond retconned out of existence.

VICTORIAN FUCKING LONDON.

Please.
It would be wonderful
The latest Sherlock Holmes film would be a great reference point of how to make it look, and it's not far enough into the future that they've got to deal with too many guns (although I assume they're going to have to deal with that somehow for Desmond).

While I think this is a better idea, I'm interested in how an era with more gun-based warfare might work in Assassin's Creed. Frankly, I think the combat would go to shit, but still...
They'll likely have that in the future anyway.

Assassin's Creed with the focus on guns.... no thank you.
Seconded.

We have an example of a games which shouldn't have guns... having guns in:

Shadow the Hedgehog

Sonic the Hedgehog but an emo with guns, emotional control problems and amnesia... Na.

Most theories point to the French Revolution, which I personally think is about as far as the series can go without Majorly shaking up the gameplay.

I think it'd be funny how utterly useless the assassins free running would be in the middle of No_Mans_Land, with machine guns and artillery shelling him.

Agreed. Not to mention that the French Revolution would be an AMAZING time period to play around with.

I remember reading somewhere that they designers said they certainly could do a game during one of the world wars, but they weren't sure they wanted to.

Victorian England please. Top hats and swords. It can't get much better then that unless one of the weapons you can use is a concealed Cane sword (sword stick).

Judging by the new comic book, an assassin's creed game with guns would be cool if it's done right and done well.

Why not WW2 where you are trapped in france, a la the Saboteur, and you need to keep Hitler from getting him some more eden? (since he already would have the Lance of Longinus) You need to work your way through the resistance and play through documented espionage. It'd have to be 95% dodging the Gestapo and 5% nailing that one fucker/asset you have to and back to the 95% again.
