I think SR3 was a huge step down from SR2 but I'd still recommend it over AC3, it isn't bad but it's by far the weakest game in the series(Well, actually AC1 might be worse but that one doesn't count anyway)

If you want an AC game, get AC2. It's great, if you like that one get Brotherhood and Revelations, personally I liked Revelations best of them because of the superior gameplay, the free running is way more fluid and you get many new awesome weapons. Many people say it's worse because of the story, but the story never made sense in the previous games anyway.

However, I think I'd recommend the Prince of Persia Collection over either of them, you get 5 awesome games for like 10 bucks.
Edit: nevermind, it seems that collection isn't available this year, what a shame.

Similar to Daystar I've played every AC game and completed all of them except 3. I just kind of lost interest, and as he said it's far too bloated with nonsense now.

As for saints row, I played Saints Row 2 and thought it was alot of fun. Then I played Saints Row the Third and I think it's one of my favorite games of all time. It's wacky and over the top but it's fantastic fun and I'd definitely recommend it over AC3. Especially if you are looking for a break from games that take themselves too seriously.

EDIT: Also as other people have said, if you do decide to go the assassin's creed route, do yourself a favor and buy 2, not 3.

Get Saint's Row: The Third. It is bat-crap crazy. So much fun. It's the only game where I have had to actually pause because it was so funny. And yes, I have played both Portals. Definitely get it if you like "THIS IS FUNNY BECAUSE IT IS FUCKING INSANE!!!!!1!!!" kind of humour. Also, Burt Reynolds.

DISCLAIMER: I haven't played AC3, but have completed the rest of the main franchise. However, one of my friends, with whom I share a significant degree of our taste in games, says that AC3 is no longer AssCreed, that you spend so little time actually assassinating and so much time doing things to make money. He did say the boat missions were fun though.

Saints Row the Third. It's silly, lacking any of the actual character and good moments from prior games, but in and of itself is simply good fun. Especially if you can find a friend and have a good ole' romp.

Also. I need a hero!

AC3 is generally ass. And the characters there are worse then Saints Row, asides one or two but then AC turns around and does something so stupid with them we can't help but to hate them.

Actually a lot of people said to me that AC3 was the worst game in the series, and AC32 was way better, actually the best game in the AC series.
By watching SRTT gameplays videos, it indeed looks like a fun game, and you can just chill and play.
Like I said in my previous comment, I'm probably gonna choose SRTT.

Depends what you want.

SRTT is a ludicrously OTT fun open world game, but has a lot of really shallow mission and side-missions (although that Kanye West moment is one of the most awesome in videogame history!)awful graphics and draw distance.

AC3 is... I'm honestly not sure how to describe it. I'm currently playing it now and it really is a combination of great ideas, bad ideas, poorly implemented ones, others that aren't fleshed out enough, others still that are pointless or bloated. The main missions are the worst part of the game: highly specific, rigidly-linear nonsense that will fail you for being creative. However it can still be really fun going on huge guard killing sprees or trying to infiltrate the 7 forts, or trying to lose guards and get anonymous. Still it dumbs down a lot of what had gone previously and puts a lot of boundries in your way, and to top it off you'll spend hours asking yourself, 'When is the game going to start?'

So in short, I don't know.

SRTT's graphic is not exactly hurrible. it has it's own specific graphic, it's pretty special. i wouldn't say it's horrible, but also it's not the best graphic you can see nowadays.
and I like SRTT's freedom and the thing that you can just do what ever you want, that's pretty awesome.
tho, AC3 looks fun but, theres too much talking, and too much just going around and doing nothing, and theres nothing really interesting. although you can free run and stuff like that, but i'd except from Ubisoft to make more fighting and training and stuff like that.

Assassin's Creed 3 is shit (You should play Assassin's Creed Brotherhood)

But if you must choose between those two Saint's Row the Third is pretty awesome (But Saint's Row 2 is better)

So in conclusion stay away from anything with a 3 in the title.

Get Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Saints Row 2 At this point you can probably pick them BOTH up for LESS that EITHER of their INFERIOR SEQUELS!

SR: TT is a stupid fun game, go for it, my 90+ hours of play attest to that.

Saints row 3 is too look at me I'm so wacky. Which is a new trend that I'm getting annoyed with. I heard AC3 isn't really that good either. I'd suggest looking for something else.

I'm going to go for SR3, even though I've never played it.

If you want to get into AC, try something other than 3. I chose 3 to get into the series and it was the biggest bore of a game I've ever played. The story is... Eh. Kind of interesting, but I think I'd have preferred the earlier entries more. 3's doesn't do much to hold my attention after the quite obvious 'twist' at the start. The gameplay after 10 hours or so is still just 70% walking around, 15% ship combat, 10% jumping on things and 5% combat/stealth. Granted I'm not just following the story straight, and am running around to grab collectibles and such, but the story is that uninteresting that I didn't see a lot of point in continuing to follow it.
The ship combat is kinda interesting, but still rather simplistic and gets old after a bit.

Overall the game is alright, but it didn't hold my attention. I just stopped playing it and I have no inclination to go back to it. SR3 at least looks like fun to play, and something I'd go back to occasionally for a laugh.
