Hey guys. I recently got around to starting Assassin's Creed 3 for PC, but the controls make me want to smash my computer in frustration. HULK SMASH! So I need to change them. Duh.
But I've got a problem when I go to do this. See, in the customise controls menu, they've got a stupid scroll list, with no unbind key displayed, and an arrow next to the control indicated. So, yeah, they've got a stupid system, probably designed with a console interface in mind instead of a PC one. (I don't mind simplified console interfaces, except that I can't use the bloody thing. It's functionally useless.) It doesn't say how, and I've tried stuff like holding down the key I want to bind to. So far, I've switched the the map screen 3 times, and rebound Interact to Delete (Because that's often "unbind").
So if anyone's got a fix for that, that'd be great.
Also, the controls in general for the game disappoint me. The camera keeps moving around unwelcome while I'm freerunning, reminding me of the worst parts of the Tombs and the like from Assassins Creed 2 (Missing a jump to a chandelier with no save points? HULK SMASH!), and the combat has changed yet again (Bear in mind I'm not yet past Haytham. If the game improves after, consider my hat devoured). The Assassin's Creed 2 trilogy spent 3 games refining the combat. The flow of the combat and counters were improved from Assassin's Creed 1, then they added the Streak system (Which, as ridiculous as it was, was kind of fun), and adding in more abilities (Some rather useless ones, but meh). Then suddenly, I'm Haytham, and the counters don't seem to be working correctly in the swordfight (Or maybe that's because it's a magical sword fighting tutorial.), but it just seems to have taken a step down.
I'm really enjoying the character of Haytham, and the setting's interesting enough so far, but I'm really fed up with the controls. I shouldn't have to look for guides on rebinding.
So thanks Ubisoft. You've once again reminded me that I know more about making usable GUI's than a good portion of people who get paid to do so.
Solvemedia: Have fun.
Screw you solve media, I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!
