Okay, so I posted this in the Advice Forum and it's had all of 2 replies, one of which was me, over a few days. Hopefully here it'll get more views, and thus more replies, since I really need some help here.

Basically, I need to know if I've done something wrong with my game. I have the Game of the Year edition of Assassin's Creed 2, which includes both DLC memory sequence packs and all three Templar Lairs - L'Arsenale, Santa Maria Dei Frari, and the Palazzo Medici. And my problem lies with the last of those three.

I know that I can access both the Venice-based lairs, since I have done so on a previous playthrough. But, I never really looked out for the Florence based one, the Palazzo Medci, until I reached the time period after Lorenzo Medici had already died in real life. So I assumed that the lair was blocked off because of that, because of the story in-game surrounding it - i.e. rescuing Lorenzo when captured in his own home by Templars.

But, I've recently begun playing through it again, and ever since meeting Lorenzo in-game I have been back to the Palazzo to see if the Templar Lair is open yet, but every time I go it is still closed. Researching it, I was informed that it should open after killing Francesco di Pazzi, but I checked afterwards and still nothing. I've now arrived in Venice and I still can't access it.

So, what I want to know is, what can I do to access the Palazzo Medici? Have I missed something somewhere, or is there a problem with the GOTY Edition that nobody has told me about? Has anyone else had this problem at all?

Same problem was reported here and apparently the GOTY edition does have glitchy lairs.

Okay, thanks. I guess I'll leave it then and see if it works as I play through, if not then never mind. At least the other two Lairs work for me anyway :p

Uh oh... I have the Director's Cut edition of the original Assassins Creed. Do I have to worry about anything like this?

I don't think so - this is only an issue with the AC2 Templar Lairs, and there's nothing like that in the first game, so you should be safe.
