An Assassins Creed game that focuses on the hardcore punk scene? Hells yeah! :D Oh wait, that is not what this one is about... D:

Anyway... Sounds like it could be interesting. Pirates are always nice, and I hear that the naval ship sections of ACIII where the best, so who knows? It could be the pirate game we have been hoping for after all these years. :p

I just want a Pirate game, thank you very much.
No more of this Desmond, Apple of Eden, Templar bullshit.
These are my feelings as well.

I'd be interested in a pirate game, but not another Assassin's Creed game.
Pirates are suppose to be, well, piratical! None of this silly Templars vs Assassins bit.

The first Monkey Island.

We need a good pirate game :D
You played Sid Meier's Pirates?

That was a fun Pirates Game.

But I am looking forward to this version of Assassin's Cred... I love me a good pirate game.

BTW what isthe address for Ubisoft's HQ, they seem to have forgotten what Assassins are about... think they need a dictionary.

Wait, Henry Rollins as an Assassin?...I'd buy that!

Kind of meh if they in the time period of AssCreed3, they need to go back about a hundred years for the good pirates...still at least they can have Teach.

I suspect it will be set before AC3, but not too much, after all Black Beard died in 1718.

As much as I like pirates, and a pirate AC game sounds awesome....after seeing those asian symbols on the wall at the end of AC1, I'm still waiting for a fucking ninja to climb about as. I was annoyed that 2 had me playing as some random Italian. And even moreso when that Italian turned out to be a dick and boring as fuck.

So, a series about climbing around cities stealthily and murdering people quietly is gonna turn into a naval combat/swordplay game (cause boats aren't exactly great for stealth or interesting capering about parkour wise).

Do these guys even remember the concepts they started with? I mean, I don't mind if you want to take your engine and run a pirate game, but make it a pirate game, don't shove it into your assassin brand.

I thought I'd be done with the series after AC3, but all the leaks surrounding this have me more excited than I've ever been for any AC game. I love naval combat and wish there were more games like it, and setting it in the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy will be incredible.

I saw a leaked map for the game (supposedly on the back of the poster which leaked earlier) and it showed three major port cities - Havana, Kingston, and Nassau. Doing some research, I found that Havana was actually one of the largest cities in the Americas at the time (larger than New York and Boston!) and Nassau was literally run by pirates like Blackbeard. Kingston didn't look too interesting, as it only started growing in 1700 after Port Royal was levelled by an earthquake, but I'm sure they can come up with some great story elements there.

I'll bet they somehow tie in Aveline's family from AC: Liberation and New Orleans, too. I just hope the story isn't weak like AC3.

Has the potential to work as a game, but at this point I'm pretty sure Ubisoft actually forgot what their Assassin's Creed games are supposed to be about, and just about anything you can do as a swashbuckling pirate (fun though it may be) has absolutely nothing to do with stealthily offing targets.
Also, I am still butthurt about AC3 being shit, so the 'benefit of doubt' bonus no longer applies. I'll play the game, but Black Flag will have to work hard to earn back some of my trust.

Everything I wanted to say, pretty much.

If Black Flag was not part of the AC franchise, it'd be popular as hell, but it's gone so divergent from the core concept of the game in that setting that it's now just a label. I'll still get it in all likelihood, about six months after the game comes out probably so I won't feel like I'm completely wasting my money.

On a related note... they made a short film Embers... that is the basis of a much more AC-ish game... martial arts, imperial conspiracy... CHINA! -_- Make the damned game, assholes!

This could be an amazing game but it shouldn't be an Assassins Creed game, as someone said Assassins and Pirates don't really work together.

But I could probably ignore that if they didn't add IV to the name. Now it seems like a major entry in the series, not a spin off like it sounds like it should be.

EDIT: Although I may forgive them a little if this source is true (Which it was about ACIV: Black Flag) about the map including Jamaica, that i would enjoy exploring.
But I would enjoy it alot more if it wasn't called Assassin's Creed IV

If it was based in England I would have no problem with that.
Though with that I would want the game to be based in the 18th century.

The protagonist would be an Australian/Convict sent to Australia.
Then he becomes an assassin over there, goes back to England and precedes to get his revenge/justice by killing most of the English nobles.

Sound fun to me! :D

Also in the England he would lead Australia out of England's shadow and then blow up most of the parliament buildings.
... and my history is a bit wrong here, I know. XD

OT:

For Black Flag ... I don't mind it.
I just hope ... HOPE

That it will have a balance between pirates and being an assassin.
And ... I know everyone will hate this.
But I kind of believe that they will do a whole 'present time' part as well. :/

I don't mind it, but I do know most of the players hate the present time sequences/story.

Very baad. I'm not a pirate fan and was hoping for more exotic settings... what's wrong with Russia, Egypt, London or Paris? *grumble*

Let's hope they won't stick to this setting and are gonna try out new waters soon. (get it?)

You must have missed Sid Meier's Pirates. And the four Monkey Island sequels. Not all of them were great but still but bound to be better than anything Assassin's Creed related.

Edward Kenway.
Haytham's father is rumored to be the lead this time around, which could be really cool letting us see Haytham's past and how he became the man he was in Ac3.
Also Haytham mentioned once that he could sail better then Connor, whether this is true or just another of his taunts remains to be seen but this could mean more time with Haytham.

Surely they could circumnavigate this by having a spin off. Pirates Creed. Or better yet, starting a new I.P. Because we all know how much we need new I.P. right?
To steal Yahtzee's point;
'What is the point of the Assassin's Creed game's at this point? Because I tell you what it isn't. Assassinating people.'
Not to be picky but this is what I want from an Assassin's Creed game. Assassinating people. Hell, Dishonoured has gotten the feeling of assassination more on the ball than the latest game with Assassin in the title and I remind you that this is a game where you can slit up everyone who looks at you funny and get into gunfights with giant robots. I am fine with Ubisoft making a pirate game. I will buy it, no doubt, because pirates are awesome. But if it's going to diverge even more from its assassin routes, then I would rather they take it and run with it and save the Assassin's Creed title for an actual game where you have to kill a specific someone while wearing a bed sheet in all manners you can think of. Because I am cynical that they can really balance what they want to do with a pirate game with what they want to do with an assassin game. But that's just my opinion.

I guess I am one of the few who was actually invested in the story but I guess since they have put that off I am not really interested in the series all that much anymore. This was went from being my favorite franchise this gen to something I won't grab for 20$ in the bargain bin.
