I know it's not entirely unexpected, but are other people thinking the same as me when playing revelations - that it's basically the same as brotherhood, and a poor excuse to squeeze money out of gamers without really giving them much new?

Also, are you glad they took away horses?

Well it will come out in ten days here, so...

Stop complaining. Game is still longer than any modern shooter.

For the most part it's more of the same, but in this case that's not a bad thing. I still had a lot of fun with it, especially with the one big new gameplay feature: crafting bombs. There should probably be a law against laughing at a gaggle of guards choking out on a cloud of neurotoxin, but there isn't.
And yes, I'm very glad they removed the horses.

What bothered me about the game was the absence of those convenient 'wanted' posters to reduce notoriety, the design choices for the "Desmond's journey" sections, and the fact that it falls a bit flat in terms of story structure.

Yes, totally. I pre-ordered it and must have played it for about 45 minutes when it turned up. Haven't played it since, and doubt I will for a long time. Just didn't grab me.

Assassin's Creed is just to enjoyable. Regardless of mechanics and such, the story's engaging and the gameplay's fun. As long as they pump out the new content, I'll play it.

Yes Assassins Creed hasn't been terribly innovative but why fix something that isn't broken? I love Assassins Creed and the chance to be Ezio one more time and run around a brand new stunning location is all I want. I can't think of a way to improve anything except that the general combat still needs a little spice - but that seems to be something they've improved on for Revelations.
I've just finished 100%ing Brotherhood and I've now started replaying AC2. It's just too much fun to race round these gorgeous settings, can't wait to check out Constantinople from the rooftops!

EDIT: Also what's this about removing horses??? I loved racing round Rome on horseback!

I haven't played Revelations yet, I will soon enough, but even when I was playing Brotherhood I was getting tired of it. The game has lost a bit of its luster, when I played the original AC I marveled at how I could climb anything and how satisfying the kills were but now its just so very passe. Ezio's story is another thing I'm completely uninterested in, I always preferred Altair but I'd rather just move to a new character. The only thing I'm really interested about AC anymore is the multiplayer.

Desmonds story was weak as hell. I liked the conclusion for both Ezio and Altair though. And I think that Rome was a lot more interesting to explore than Constantinople. But that is just me.

This, big time. I'm so in love with both ACII and Brotherhood, its madness. I remember i walked the streets of Rome for hours without doing missions, just looking at ppl and architecture, these games are amazing.

I already came to this conclusion with Brotherhood.

Ubisoft has turned this franchise into their yearly income source, gestation time be damned.

That's not a bad thing at all to me. I liked the taste of pineapple #1 and pineapple #2, why should they suddenly give me a pear instead?

Same great gameplay, some new minor additions, continuation of the story, and I'm as happy as a clam.

It's not that I don't love it, because I am super enjoying it. But yeah, it's pretty much an expansion of brotherhood.

And the story does fall a bit flat...

I blogged something along those lines

*meh* pretty much that...

If I have one gripe gameplay-wise, it's the bloody money accumulation. At first, it's annoying because you end up just pickpocketing rather randomly. And by the end, money gets thrown at you and the bottom of your screen becomes a silly line of digits. Still, having said that, I love running around the open world and finding random groups of soldiers to start fights with.

I haven't played AC:R yet (doesn't come out on PC for another two freakin' weeks... *grr*) but if there's one thing I'm not looking forward to, it's Ezio getting his studly on! *hrk*

I can't say that Assassin's Creed has ever bored me. Even as repetitive as part 1 was there's just something relaxing about the free running mechanics. The game does have its flaws, being 'easy' is the biggest one in my opinion but no, I'm certainly not bored with it. It may be little more than an expansion for Brotherhood, but that's not really a bad thing in my book.

I do hope they choose a new protagonist for the next game, but I'm not upset by dealing with both Ezio and Altair for 4 games now.

Considering that they've said multiple times that this will be Altiar and Ezio's final game
(And the fact that both of them die)
, I imagine that they'll have to choose a new protagonist...

Maybe it'll be Shao Jun.

OT: I did find the story boring...up until the third to last chapter. Shahkulu made the entire game worth it for me, even though he was only around for like 15 minutes. Easily the most badass character in the series.
You 'assassinate' him twice. THEN the boss battle starts. He's also the only person who never gets a 'Rest in peace'.
