Good review I agree with most of what you say although having the PC version I'm not sure about the flag/achievement thing. I think I'd have given up on the game if I had to collect them for some reason. I really can't be bothered with that.
It was a good game, I just wish it wasn't so damn repetitive and too right, pushing people from rooftops always cracks me up especially watching the ensuing chaos below. For some reason the thought of a dead body falling amongst unsuspecting people always makes me laugh.

I think im one of the few people that loved the combat in assassins creed it was realistic yet not brutally hard.
