Assassins Creed Rogue or Unity which looks more exciting.

Yeah yeah I know a lot of us will be getting both. But which one looks more interesting to you.

For me its Rogue.
I imagined a game about a Templar would mostly consist of sitting around being rich, and then going out to get even richer via dubious means. Then plotting with friends whilst walking along narrow streets, never once looking at the assassins following you along the roof tops. Then finishing off your day by standing on something spectacular (with lots of hiding places on) that is begging to be climbed, and giving a rude and sarcastic speech to all the people on the floor and the assassins climbing up behind you.

But apparently a Templar game would be basically a normal AC game except you are assassinating assassins now, and you need to be wary of standing under tall buildings and near bushes.

I'm not really interested in the Templar view because its downright dumb "Lets control everyone whilst being mean so no one will be a meanie", but I am interested in hunting the hunters so to speak. I'm also looking forward to not killing exclusively British people like in AC3, I think its the French's turn to have their throats mutilated and penetrated in AC Unity as well of course.

I'm still excited for unity though. Apparently Ubisoft watched Les'Miserables recently as well. I find it difficult to sympathise with the French because they kept on having Revolutions but they never seemed to make them very happy. Why bother rebbeling against one government when you are just going to overthrow the one you are setting up now in a few years time.

Neither. AC is one of the most overrated series where combat and climbing is so basic that it almost feel like entire game is simply tutorial. AC4 is only decent one because of naval battles

Unity, I've seen Pirates in assassins creed now. I don't need more, just like I didn't need more Ezio after the first one.

New things are exciting things, and the french revolution has a lot of options for assassination-y situations. So yay Unity.

Unity looks more interesting IMO. It's a love story. That intrigues me a lot more than a game about an Assassin turned Templar.

I'm amazed that some people still don't understand the concept of these topics. Lets say that your life depended on you choosing to play one of these games and you have to choose the game that seems better to you for some reason. Which one would you pick then?

It all depends on how different it will be to play as a Templar. If the new main character will play exactly as Ezio and Conner with the exception of your target being hood wearing assassins then Rouge will pretty much be a lost chance. If being a Templar brings something more unique then Rouge may end up the more interesting game.

And haytham, the best character in the series is back which is a huge plus. I greatly prefer the Templar's over the assassins so playing their side will be interesting as well though i have the feeling the main character will end up misguided and deceived rather then him being a convinced Templar.

Can you name a couple of AAA games that feature climbing to the extent that AC does? How do you propose you make it less basic without also making it horribly convoluted?

I can think of only like Prototype, which is literally running up a wall.

Rogue looks better due to the story. Unity looks meh - most they show is four player thing which i dont care about.

Bit harsh m8. Don't know why you'd want to make climbing more complicated but hey! each to his own.

From what I've seen from trailers you guys may well be on to something...

-You seem to be fighting guards a lot (I thought the guards were on Templar payrole)
-You free run and have eagle sense (I'd prefer some Templar related abilities)
-You take over crappily guarded areas by swapping the flag (the only difference being you aren't sticking up the dumb A symbol this time)
-You have to buy/upgrade your stuff (I thought the point of being a Templar was that money and resources aren't an issue)

So a love story literally the most overused, over done plot device in literature history is more appealing to you than seeing what its like being a Templar? I'm not shitting on Unity here just questioning your logic.

Rogue. No intention of getting either at this point in time, but I like the idea of playing as a Templar, and for whatever reason, the North Atlantic looks a more interesting setting than Paris.

Rogue, for a few reasons.

1) Naval combat is still cool.
2) Plot seems interesting.
3) I like the Irish protagonist (sue me).
4) I DON'T HAVE A NEXT-GEN CONSOLE.

One of those is a tad more important than the others. See if you can figure out which one!

It's not a question of logic, it's just personal preference. And love story isn't a plot device. It's the main narrative. And it hasn't been overused in video games. That's what makes it intriguing. I want to see how they'll pull off something like that.

Rogue, for reasons above and because I can buy it without buying a next-gen console.

Also, a poll would be quite useful for a thread like this.

Probably Rogue since I don't have a PS4 and I can't play Unity because of it. If the story is what I think it is, it's probably a mid-quel of AC3 which could be interesting.

Sorry mr Jensen but I can't see how video games can make a love story fresh. They will either live happily ever after, one will die, or they will be unable to stay with each other.

I'll admit its fresh if they go for something truly alternative or fucked up, like one of them cannibalizes the other.

love stories aren't inherently bad, or more to the pint maybe love stories are bad but a [i/]good[/i] relationship in any work of fiction is nice

and when I say good I mean the oposite of Uncharted "oh I don't know what to do with these two charachters now that they've snakred their way into each others pants...lewts split them up again , rinse repeat"...THREE TIMES Naughty dog...three fucking times thats unacceptable

Neither, I am done with Ubisoft.
Between the DRM, the online passes, the bland played out franchises, the bullshit excuses for why they supposedly can't make a lady character, on top of the general downward spiral their games have been going through recently (with the obvious exceptions of the new Raymans and AC:IV) I just have no reason to care about their games anymore.
Rayman Legends will probobly end up being the last Ubisoft game I buy until they release Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Unity was the more interesting to read about, especially when it was revealed how difficult it would be to put playable women in the game. As for actually playing either game, I just don't care anymore. Unlike most other people, I really liked Assassin's Creed 1 and enjoyed the sequel...then there were a few spin-off games and by the time the third one came out I didn't care...then I played the third one and now I'm just done with the franchise. Once Unity and Rouge HD are discount games I'll probably give them a chance...maybe...I still haven't played 4 and it's less than $20 on amazon.

This sort of line is why Rogue interests me more then Unity right now. Maybe it's expecting a bit much from Ubisoft, but I'd like to see the Templar cause be played out as far more sympathetic then the previous Assassin views of it have shown us. That being said, I'm waiting until they're out before I actually decide to pick up either, just Rogue excites me more right now.
