I was reading the extra punctuation article on the same topic and wanted to know what you think should be the next time period for next assassin's creed game. Assuming it isn't completely about Desmond. That would probably be disappointing.Hint, Hint.

Like I say every time this topic comes up, I would love to see one set in Imperial Russia. That would be nice.

Oh, and at some point in this thread someone will mention Victorian England, possibly with a female assassin. That would be cool too.

Despite having replied to a lot of these 'next AC game period', I still get tired of them less easily than AC:B's freakin' gameplay, that's for sure... -_- *sigh*

Anyway, Napoleonic Wars... the whole damned saga from 1789-1815 (what?! ACII lasted almost as long as that, and the fucker's only just quit!). The possiblities are almost innumerable (and that's just in GB/France/Spain), and we can return to the name-dropping that made the first two games soooooooooooooo much more engaging (for me at least)...

There is a comic series that is set towards the end of Imperial Russia.

As I say in every thread of this type, Elizabethan England. It was awesome and horrible and volatile all at once, and 16th-century London was built up enough to allow the climbing and running that the Assassin's Creed games demand.

As I posted in this thread: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.327486-Ubisoft-asks-where-the-next-Assassins-Creed-should-be-set
There was a survey with eight choices:

The eight options are:

*The violent conflicts of the Imperial Dynasties in Medieval China
*The advent of the mighty British Empire during Victorian England
*The culmination of the Pharaoh Reign in Ancient Egypt
*The invasion of the Americas by the Spanish Conquistadors
*The confrontation between British colonists and native Americans during The American Revolution
*The overthrow of the Tsar Empire by the Communists during the Russian Revolution
*The Warlord Battles in Feudal Japan
*The rise of Cesar's Empire in Ancient Rome

(This is not for the game due out in October (which is the end of Desmond's story) but where they go with the series after that)

I have a friend who once said he wished for ACIII to take place during World War II. Had he not changed his views, I would have promptly disowned him.

If anything, possibly England in the 19th century?

Wow...those options are all kind of tempting. I'd actually LOVE a Revolutionary War setting. That setting is very rarely explored and I think it could be alot of fun to go with...but then again, no one asked me :p.

I've heard rumors that AC3 will be set during the American Revolutionary war. Personally, I would like to see it set either in Victorian England or during the Napoleonic wars in France.

I've always wanted an AC set in Victorian London, Revolutionary Paris or during the American Revolution.

now why would being a stealth assassin in world war 2 be a bad thing. taking out high ranking nazi officials while blending in with their clothing sounds like an incredible thing to attempt.

It's pretty obvious it's headin to Desmond, now.

Other than that, though, Civil War America would be pretty rad.

Weren't Ubisoft wanting to make 3 about Desmond and the whole calamity predicted by those that came before?

The animus was just an assassin training program used to get him up to speed. Living pretty much the whole of Ezio's life would be more than enough to get Desmond up to speed.
Besides, there is time outside of the Desmond arc for other time preiods and settings, that is IF Ubisoft ever decides to come back to the IP and do something new with it.

Not that I care, I lost interest about an hour into Brotherhood.

Honestly, I would prefer it if the game took place in European colonized China between the first and second Opium wars. The setting is appropriately exotic and full of political intrigue between the foreign diplomats and military men on one end and Chinese secret societies and the imperial court on the other. The European presence gives Desmond's ancestors an excuse to be there, and the overall prevalence of melee weapons among the traders and Chinese makes the assassin's normal arsenal of swords and stealth blades a viable threat.

That's what I would PREFER, but in my heart and mind I know at least half of the people on this thread will be parroting French Revolution and Victorian England without much explanation into either, the former being a viable option while the latter would be a glorified sh*thole overblown in it's majesty by Sherlock Holmes enthusiasts and steampunk fanatics.

Edit: I supposed a World War I era game wouldn't be bad (assuming we can avoid turning it into an FPS). Wouldn't it be fun if it was Desmond's ancestor who killed (or was framed for killing) Archduke Franz Ferdinand?

Wouldn't mind a Desmond game, but would still like to see other settings.
Perhaps from an unrelated side-character, even. I don't care.
There were plenty of assassins to have relatives around.

Because there have been plenty of WWII games, would we REALLY need another one?

After watching "Embers" it will probably be set in China, but what i would really like is for it to be set in Victorian England
