now why would being a stealth assassin in world war 2 be a bad thing. taking out high ranking nazi officials while blending in with their clothing sounds like an incredible thing to attempt.

Okay then, how about Feudal Japan?

I thought that it was rumoured a little while ago that it was going to be in the American Revolution. This would make sense if you've beaten Revelations because of

where the group are located at the end of the game

Before they go on to the next time period... Could they just finish the story?

I have a friend who once said he wished for ACIII to take place during World War II. Had he not changed his views, I would have promptly disowned him.

If anything, possibly England in the 19th century?

Heard of a game called 'The Saboteur' because thats assasinating WW2 nazis.

The closer to present day we get the more problems arise (in my opinion) as technology gets more problematic for the Assasin, its more about melee combat and close quarters, ranged weapons should be used to make the Assasin close the gap. Once you get to automatic weapons or rifles with multiple rounds in a magazine ranged weapons become more of a deterrent for an Assasin. If were doing past settings the latest it probably can be is the Napoleonic Wars, around 1815. Set it in a city as ranged weapons are better in open ground.

My preferred setting would be in and around the French Revolution. It starts just before the revolution, evolves during and after the revolution. The Revolution is part of a Templar plot to destabilise Europe, trying to put France, one of the superpowers, in turmoil. Once the current establishment is gone they will attempt to put their own members at the forefront of Revolution, trying to gain control. The Assasins are wary that something is afoot and the Assasins in France get reinforcements from other countries, Britain, Prussia, Austria and others. They come posing as young academics and travelling gentlemen, heading to Paris to bloster Assasin ranks. You play as James Harewood, one of the junior British Assasins sent to France (I'm British, I'd like to play a British protagonist) and being a gentleman is trained with sword and pistol, being an assasin he is also trained in stealth, spying and the use of the hidden blade. You will experience major events in the revolution but, unlike previous AC games, the Templars win. The revolution goes ahead and despite the best efforts of the Assasins, they start to get killed, this sets the Templars on the road to dominance over the Assasins.

Gameplay will be AC in Revolutionary Paris, Ranged weapons will be muskets, innacurate and one shot before reloading, dodge the shot and get close. Lots of buildings that are close, scaleable and provide cover.

Wouldn't mind a Desmond game, but would still like to see other settings.
Perhaps from an unrelated side-character, even. I don't care.
There were plenty of assassins to have relatives around.
I would actually prefer if they got Desmond out of the way first before branching out into other periods.
That way they don't have to shoe horn in some tie between the two or some connection to the current arc.
Heck they could even just dump the animus and play it as it goes.
At least it would give the player a sense of actual accomplishment. One of my main gripes with the series as a whole is that the inclusion of the animus, means that no matter what I do, it's predetermined. There is no illusion of control, which I believe is pretty important in a game. It's all about presentation, the player has to at some level believe they are achieving something

Well, it's not a sandbox game. So I'm fine with that.
I -love- sandboxes, but not every game has to be one.
(Though, wouldn't that be something?)

I, for one, would like to see an Assassin's Creed game set in Feudal/medieval Japan (Samurai and Ninja time). The Templar faction could be samurai and the Assassins the ninja. There is a wide variety of historically accurate weaponry that they could use, and I'd like to see the architecture of that era in a video game with good graphics
