Assassin's Creed was the hype at my high school the day it was released. It was like the Orange Box had just been given a hard kick in the butt. I on the other hand was not impressed and therefore refused to buy the game. Nobody seemed to notice as I sat at lunch listening to their conversations about who was better: Altair or Mr. Freeman? I smirked at the thought of anybody being a better character than Gordan. But, by the middle of the year, as people still talked about the mysterious game and I got curious. So, I got my mum to buy me the game, and I realized I loved it - at the beginning. The game showed a new challenge. The assassins weren't "quests" they were goals. You could choose to chug forward to the assassinations, or you could kill random people - resulting in a high speed chase. The soldiers blocking off exits and climbing up buildings! When I realized that all the chases were about the same, I decide to move forward in the storyline. After being given a task, that I thought would surly be for thirty minutes, to "kill 9 men". I was sure that would suceed and come back for more, but instead I was given the task that drags out the whole entire game. The assassination took more time to plan than to actually do and the people talked for HOURS after being stabbed. This annoyed me. To the point that I could not finish the game! The graphics were the true pride of this game. As is with Oblivion. The game, not nearly as good as others stated, was jugded by it's apperance. The horses, though, very realistic galloped at a slow pace, making it difficult to get from place to place. The game, however, took care of this by adding in the feature of fast traveling after the acomplishment of the first assassination. The people looked as if the had been copied and pasted everywhere and Altair had an American accent - throwing off the reality of the game. The combat seemed somewhat advanced - though being hit, full force intended, with a sword was less effective than beening sliced with a hidden blade. The problems made the game unbearable. In the beginning, the game sucked me in, but the constant talking and the long planning periods pushed me out.
Overall game: C+
