I detest when people assume that because I'm germaphobic, that means I'm afraid of germs!

I just don't like them very much...
I think people believe being afraid of germs is the definition of germaphobic, as opened to just thinking being a germaphobe and being afraid of germs overlaps.

Because I am young, I don't know jack squat about real life.

Says the person that just failed horribly while trying to do a guitar solo because he played it on Guitar Hero

Oh lord I've been waiting for this thread.

- That Christians are ignorant, science hating, bigoted morons
- That Muslims are violent terrorists out to destroy america.
- That Americans are fat, gun toting, "'merica fuck yeah!" idiots
- That Homosexuals are evil and going to hell
- That liberals are pot smoking communists
- That Mexicans are out to steal jobs
and so much more

I hate the assumption that games with a light tone and/or art style are for kids.
That is totally something my dad would say.

My worst one was when I was in Washington DC on a mini vacation, someone there found out I was from Mississippi. The actually looked down at my feet, slowly looked back up at me and asked if I had bought my shoes for the trip. I got pretty angry over that one.

It really bugs me when people see two sides arguing and automatically assume that "the truth" lies somewhere right between the two sides.

People coming into a long standing debate with no real understanding of the issue and believing that they can show off they're superior intellect by "seeing both sides" and "agreeing with both". Neutrality doesn't automatically make you right.

And the smugness with which this is usually done is unbearable to me.

You know what? I'm just gonna nip this in the bud and say...all of them.

Why? Why not? Saves time. And now, without further ado, because it probably should've been posted a while ago, The Assumption Song!

People who think all Americans are fat, uneducated, gun-toting, ignorant, arrogant, xenophobic morons.
Yeah only about 50% of us are fat.
The other 50% are guitar playing Christians who have a strange youthfulness to them, aren't they? I've got you guys pinned. /sarcasm

OT: I hate when people assume that my assumption is entirely baseless and through the 'you don't know what you're talking about' argument in my face. It's especially annoying when it's about a person or someone starts through obscure facts at you. Fucking pricks.

That if something doesn't ring up at the cash register, that it must be free.

All cashiers should be legally allowed to punch anyone that says that, until it's
driven from everyone's brain.

But if given a chance to grandstand here's what bugs me most: 99% of people that accuse others of hypocrisy. To believe something is right and not personally follow through on it does not make your argument invalid. In our time hypocrisy has become the greatest sin, when really it's quite minor. To attack a person's ideals because they don't live up to them makes you look like a complete dumbass.
Yeah not living up to your ideals is not hypocritical. Pretending to believe something you do not is. There are many reasons why people would not follow an ideal other than them not believing in them.

The assumption that intelligent people cannot simultaneously be athletic or fun-loving or want to do other things besides study.

That comes only second to the assumption that because I do something without hesitation, fear, or concern I must not be thinking about it.
I think about things all the time. Training in parkour and other physical activities as well as simple observation lets me know my own skills and limits very well. So when I climb a loose pile of rocks or sit on a high outcrop or run through a thick trail I have already judged where I have to step to avoid shifting the rocks, or made sure I have a firm handhold and a short and/or soft fall if I slip, or I have seen the safest path on the trail; but because I do this quickly everyone tells me I need to be more careful or think about what I'm doing, ignoring that I already have many times over.

How when the Oslo bomber was caught, Fox news said "JIHAD!!!!"

...seriously Fox? Really? A Jihad? He's a fucking white Christian crazy person.

I was impressed though that they went with Jihad instead of video games. Put me on my ass laughing.

Another assumption is when I say that I'm pro-abortion, others automatically say "oh you're a democrat." I'm neither, I listen to both sides equally and have ideals that fit on both parties. Why does anyone belong to just one party, can we not have some Democratic values and some Republican values?

That because I wear black all of the time, I'm emo. I wear black all of the time because it's the only color I have, and I'm too lazy to get anything new! among other things that I can't think of, but I know they exist.

What if they have thought it through and have come up with evidence showing that the two really ARE equal?

My tears mean I am weak. (I cry when i'm angry in addition to the normal circumstances.)

My Size means i'm a brute and looking for a fight. (I'm just shy of 6ft and 20 or 30 lbs short of 300. I don't look for fights but I will defend myself if absolutely necessary.)

My silence means I have nothing important to say (Too shy to speak up when interrupted.)

I'm a guy, therefore I do not enjoy hugs (Seriously. I know it can be viewed as wimpy but for the love of god it's okay to hug the panda...Yes..."Like a panda" is the one way my body shape has been descriped that i've been okay with.)

My remaining silent means I found the joke about my physical appearance just as funny as the one making the joke. (Seriously, people. There are buttons that you shouldn't push!)

My intellect and my vocabulary mean I think I'm better than those who excel in other forms. (That and my general social awkwardness have warded of a few potential friendships.)

That's just a few of 'em. There are a fair number but the others are alot harder to put into words

It eternally frustrates me when people assume that my bisexuality means I'm a cheater waiting to happen or a "confused" gay man who can't come out of the closet, or that I'm just following a fad. That said, it's also annoying when people assume gay/bisexual men are all a bunch of effeminate hairdressers, ever heard of the Sacred Band of Thebes?
