Considering that the Index Corporation which owns Atlus has filed bankruptcy I doubt that Persona 5 would be released before that is settled, furthermore at the moment I hope that Atlus has just been sitting on the name and hasn't really done anything with it because Index can be considered the Japanese version of EA for the shit they pull.
I know nothing about this Index corporation other than their ownership of Atlus. What do you mean, Japanese version of EA? EA aren't all that bad when it comes to consoles anyway.

Atlus kinda straight out said that all bankruptcy business didn't really affect them. Persona 5 development was confirmed some time ago and at some point there was info that Soejima submitted his concept arts, so, development was and is in active stage.

If I can play both genders, I'll be happy....really, really getting into Persona 3 recently. It's the first one I've tried from the series and, frankly, it's pretty awesome.
This is what really intrigues me, there are so many things they can do! They can come up with entirely new cast with CANONIC female protagonist, or they can continue events from Arena with multiple campaigns and choosable protagonists! For example, Labrys or Aigis or Elizabeth for Female protagonist and Yu for Male protagonist! Oh the possibilities!

To be fair, they announced like 2 years ago that they were working on it.
So, predicted timeline: Japanese Release: 2014. American Release: 2015. European Release: 2020, if at all.
So, in 2015 I'll have both this AND The Avengers sequel to look forward to? AWESOME!

Uh... it wasn't serious. I was just trying to make a joke 'cause Atlus is awful with localizing games in europe. We get all the SMT games years after the rest of the world.

Well it was announced ages ago and they have only just registered a domain name which still means bugger all as they havent shown or announced anything.
The difference is that the announcements in prior years was that the game was being developed in a conceptual sense - the ideas were being fleshed out before actual production. As unlikely as it would have been, at that point it was still possible that Persona 5 might not happen, or that, say, other SMT titles might get higher priority.

Registering a domain name means the game is definitely going ahead and development/production of the game proper is happening.

Now I feel sad... Hopefully it still comes out in a timely fashion and we all get to play.

Bah, Persona....

WHERE'S THE LUCIFERS CALL SEQUEL ATLAS!!?!?
Shin Megami Tensei IV is coming out for the 3DS this year and SMT: Strange Journey is pretty much a main series entry without a number and is on the DS. It wasn't released in Europe ( >:-( ) but it's region-free so eh. It's also amazing.

OT: Fuck yes! Gotta say I;m still looking forward to SMT IV more, though. What can I say? The main series is my crack.

Speaking of which has anyone else played the two SNES games? Kinda clunky but still amazing. Feel kinda like horror games, too...

The initial reason Index purchased Atlus was to use their properties as freemium games for phones and tablets. Which they followed up by purchasing pretty much every company that produced a popular game in the hopes of making a quick buck, which is why they are going bankrupt, they spent something like three times their net worth on this kind of thing and then when the laws got changed and the market shifted they got bit in the ass pretty damn hard. So less terrible console games more short term profit mongering.

As much as I love the Persona series, it's just hard for me to care about news like this anymore. To be as blunt as possible, either give us something to see or...y'know...shut up.

Truth be told, this news surprised me because I was just under the impression that they'd already done this...like 2 years ago when they announced that the game was in development. Or even all the subtle hints they'd dropped before then.

I would rather just hear absolutely nothing about Persona 5 for the next year and then have them go "Hey, the game will be out in 3 months." then for them to announce it tomorrow and tell us it'll be out in 15 months.

Either way we're waiting just as long, but the waiting won't be as arduous.

Despite them talking about it for over 2 years now, Persona 5 hasn't even been officially announced yet (I think it's far to believe that a game has to have SOMETHING to show for it to count as an official announcement. Not just the director going "Oh yeah, we're totally working on it.")

However, since they apparently did just register the name, I will take this as good news that they are going to have an actual announcement on it soon.

I'm disappointed in all of you.

No linking of the Persona Fan-Group? Makes me sic. /throws up

Anyway, yeah, hype. But I'm still more curious about the console it will be released on. Is it gonna be multiplat? Like, on PS4, PS3, and Vita? Or maybe it will come out for 3DS? Or Xbox?

I just wanna know what I need in order to play it, dammit!

Oh joy... I would be excited but, well, I have to dodge spoilers for at least a year after the American release because Atlus is the best at EU publishing. Then there's going to be that **** who posts "vague" spoilers in the very title of a thread... I overthink everything so don't even give me an inkling of a spoiler thank you very much.

I wonder if it's a mystery sort of game again? I could see them keeping all that for Persona 4: Insert Subtitle Here because they did end P4A with a to be continued and P5 could be a fresh new location with all new characters. I think that would be best.

Literally putting myself into a Hype Free mindset until a solid EU release date is set. Ah, sorry the second set EU release once they inevitably notice they haven't pissed off the fans in the EU enough yet.
As one of the biggest P4 fans ever, I fear this. I'm tapped out. It is time for a new setting and cast.

Yeah, I love Persona as well but I'd really prefer something like this. Like Telltale and The Walking Dead going "yeah we're working on it" and then it randomly comes out of nowhere, I'd just like to know it's being worked on and that it's going to come eventually. Constant little updates aren't needed.

Pardon me, I need to find the nearest Indian reservation so I can find the vast number of fireworks that this news deserves.
