Can anyone suggest some good atmospheric horror pc games? Don't mention Bioshock(already finished it), System Shock 2(won't run on my computer), Doom 3(I thought it was rubbish) or F.E.A.R.(Generally meh, in my opinion).
Survival Horror has mostly flourished on consoles, however if you can find them there were PC versions of the Silent Hill Games, "Homecoming" being the only one that is still generally availible (and downloadable from STEAM) despite some very mixed (shall we say) reviews it was actually okay, I played it on the 360 though.

You've also got "Call Of Cthulhu: Dark Corners Of The Earth", the "Manhunt" games (from Direct 2 Drive), "Clive Barker's Jericho" (Could have sworn I saw a PC version) and if you want to dig through abandonware sites and such and tryin and get old software to work there are "Legacy: Realm Of Terror", "Elvira 1 & 2", "Waxworks", and "Clive Barker's Undying".

Then there are probably 30 bajillion adventure games with a horror theme ("Shivers", "Scratches", "John Saul's Blackstone Chronciles", etc...) though those probably aren't the type of game your looking for.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the original. It's a superb game, just I tend to think of it as a PS1 game, not a PC game, and the thread is about PC... so yeah...
My bad. I actually thought this PC version I borrowed from a friend years ago was actually an official release. A little research proved me wrong, it's a bootleg.

And also, IMO, Homecoming sucks. From your avatar I'm assuming you're a big fan of SH, so here's my opinions on why it sucks:[...]
I appreciate your short review, unfortunately I am a massive Silent Hill whore and sooner or later will own every version of every game ever released on the market, plus all the merchandise. Even that lame-ass pocket-radio which is just your regular radio with the Silent Hill 3 logo on it. I'm also expecting a Red Pyramid dildo, Konami. No, I don't intend to use it.
But I get the fact that a combat-based game is not Silent Hill. I think the same. I'll also keep in mind your tip that the game is closer to the movie (which I actually liked, good atmosphere, even if story was lacking) than to the other games. Need to get into the right mindset for the game.

Out of Hell.

I challenge anyone to find a game more terrifying and atmospheric than that game. The first level is a bit slow but damn does it get to you. I still haven't got past the 3rd level because I'm a little girl apparently when it comes to horror games :D
