I wonder if the recent chaos caused by the March 11th Earthquake in Japan may have revealed key infrastructure weaknesses that required a full rebuild worldwide?
How exactly would you create a system that was 8.9 richter scale proof? o_O Even staellites require terrestrial services to be operating for them to work.

Even then I doubt this would require a world-centric renovation of services.

Or did I misread you? X.x

The crap is this? Kind of not so sympathetic to people that did nothing wrong.
All's fair in love and war, and this is DEFINATLY [the console] war!
The console war is still going? I abandoned that BS once I realized how retarded it all was. I mean, where's the logic? Some people bought a different console to you, so you hate them? Can you elaborate at all?

Do people not understand how Anon works? How they attack sites? If Anon was attacking Sony, Ops would know about it. 4chan would know about it. Even if it was one group or another of people within Anon, 4ch would know about it. They'd be bragging, because that's what they *do*.

The secondary issue is that, even if this *was* part of Anon, if it doesn't take even the majority of Anon 'members' to take down PSN, Sony built a crap network in the first place.
Because I'm sure you are THE authority on just exactly what kind of network Sony built and their security etc.

Anonymous "YEH LETS MESS UP SONY"
Sony "PSN is down"
Anonymous "We didn't do it"

Yes...totally makes sense.
Even if I haven't got the details exactly right it must be a very big coincidence that the time anonymous wants to take action against Sony is the very same time PSN goes down and they deny any involvement.
But here's the thing: it makes no sense for Anon not to claim responsibility for something. They've targeted Sony before, in a way that hurts users. For an organization that's trying to draw attention to itself, it would get nothing by attacking, then denying the attack. No, this is Sony screwing up and using Anon to cover its tracks.

BTW, and not to add more fuel to the console wars, but if Microsoft isn't out there giving XBL Gold discounts to disgruntled PSN users, they need to get a better marketing team.
Or maybe Anon accidentally fucked with PSN when they attacked Sony and don't want to fess up because then we would hate them... MUUUUCCCHHH more likely then a corporate conspiracy theory, but I guess everyones on the anti-Sony train now so I guess I'll go grab my pitchfork.

Trusting a bunch of black hats, and taking them at their word?
Then they go on to do exactly what they said they wouldn't do?

WHO COULD HAVE SEEN THIS COMING??

...Well, to be fair, it could be a part of Anonymous that didn't want to play nice irregardless.
I imagine Sony has located the avenue of attack and is fixing it; suggesting that such a vulnerability had a limited lifespan.
You lose all credibility for the now-bold part.
Oh no! My internet credibility! Whatever shall I do?!
You really went out of your way to point this out, didn't you?
Not as much as you may think, but certain abuses of language annoy me regardless.
Also, given that your credibility, your word, is all you have on the tubes (because no-one gives a shit how fast you can run or how high you can jump) you may want to consider safeguarding it a little better in future.

Unless it was an obscenely-early morning post for you - in that case, I'm willing to forgive.

Really?! Are you even going to put Child Molester and hacker in the same sentence?

Murderers and panhandlers can all go to hell, amirite?!
Yes. They deserve the same level of punishment, as far as I'm concerned.
At least child molesters are probably mentally tormented, disturbed people. Hackers are just assholes for the sake of being assholes.

*shrugs*
I'm a random nobody talking to other nobodies. My word means precisely shit no matter what.

It was the last post I tried to squeeze out before my class started. If I don't rush into the room first, some asshole takes the seat closest to the power outlet, and this laptop's battery isn't worth a damn anymore.

The war was won by the PC before it even started. You want to enroll for the Vietnam war? What about WWII? We have to stop that dastardly Hitler before he takes over the earth in 2012.
Epic win.

I don't think that's much more likely. It comes down to the mechanics of attention. Anon's whole motivation is to get people to pay attention to them. It doesn't really matter if that attention is good or bad. As far as they're concerned, any attention focuses those who care on the privacy issues surrounding Sony, and perhaps educates a few who were unaware of them.

Now, Sony needs its attention to be positive; they can't have people thinking PSN to be unreliable. Sony has every reason to lie about this incident, while Anon has none. In fact they would have motivation to lie the other way, claiming responsibility even if they had none. The fact that they're taking the effort to issue a denial indicates that this isn't Anon's doing.

i dont have a ps3 nor are part of the psn, nor know a huge amount about the situation. but ive noticed a lot of the people who are convinced anon did it are people who are probably biased due to being angry that the psn is down...

So, sexually assaulting/harrassing/exploiting children and thus causing all sorts of life-long trauma and mental/social problems is on the same level as some guy being an asshole and hacking into somebody's computer or network?

I don't see it.

I just want to see those hackers suffer the same level of punishment. Not that I'll actually see it. But it would make me happy to know that they would suffer for their completely pointless, malicious activities.
