Maybe a little bit of explanation will come later. And feel free to discuss people's choices and your own. After making 100 as a list though, I'm plum tuckered out so I'll explain my reasoning later. These are all favourites of course, you don't need to attempt to make an "objective" assessment for games. Such a thing probably doesn't even exist to begin with. And if you can't make a full 100, just start off the list for however long you can, and finish it up later. Starting off with a top 20 is just fine.

As you can see, I'm quite an SNES fanboy. Almost all of favourite games exist for the system. You may also notice... other biases in my game taste. I am who I am.

There are so many that I left out that I could have mentioned. Oh well, maybe someday I'll make a top 200 list.

Lack of Hitman makes me sad. Hitman and Freespace.

That is why you don't do Top 100 Games of ALL TIME! lists. Because there's so many awesome games, you're bound to miss a few out, and fanboys WILL rage.

Edit: WHOA WHOA, you have pro skater 3 but not any of the Underground games? Shame on you. Well i guess that's just like my opinion man.

That one being Rome: Total War.

But to make my own list? That'd be difficult, so I'll settle for contributing to someone else's.

Hey, there's some definite non-Nintendo stuff there. Admittedly a lot of it is in the spirit of a genre that Nintendo helped make popular... but still. I mean there's some Tony Hawk and some scrolling shooters for the XBOX360. And Tekken, and Tales of. Hey, maybe I need to do a top 200 list?!

Okay.... I admit. I am a huge Nintendo fan. The Super Nintendo was a defining childhood moment for me and I've lived gaming judging by those days a little bit ever since. I've been living gaming in a sort of Nintendo mindset my entire life. A mindset especially inspired by the Super Nintendo. But you've got to admit, that was one awesome system.

I think it's been pretty apparent that I'm a Nintendo fan here already. I mean... if you've seen my other posts..

Someone should take all the "top X best games of all time" list and make a weighed list just like another website did it with movies. I'm not posting any links to it because I'm not sure if I'm allowed to, but their name is They Shoot Pictures and you should rather see that top 1000 than the crappy IMDB top 250. A list of like, 500 games would be godlike, but only 100 sounds a bit more appropriate because gaming is a relatively new art form, so having 500 of the best would probably include some that you'd rather see in the garbage bin. Maybe 250 would be fitting.

Let's try something else, eh? I'll nominate a game, and the next person estimates where they think that game would rank in the top 100 of all time, then nominates another game. The person after that ranks that game and adds it to the list.

Since it's all subjective anyway (Okami not in top 20? Boo!) each person can choose to modify a game's rank ONLY if you have a sufficient argument. If you don't like that someone put FFVII over Super Mario RPG, you can't re-rank either of them unless you make a convincing case for why one may be a superior game to the other.


So, for an example:
Person A nominates Chrono Trigger, and that's all they have to do.
Person B estimates that Chrono Trigger would be #6, then nominates Starcraft 2.
Person C ranks Starcraft 2 at #15 and notes it in list form (no need to write out the full 1-100) and then nominates Earthbound
Person D thinks SC2 should be ranked higher and makes a compelling case for it.
Person E now has the decision to either re-rank SC2 based on their own opinion, OR they can rank Person C's nomination of Earthbound

Finally, just to keep the list from being over-saturated with Zelda and Final Fantasy and Mario and whatever, let's keep it to, let's say... 3 games from each franchise.
