That right! the cleverbot we come to know and love is nothing more than a fake, a hoax, a sham, a dupe! You're actually just in a giant chatroom, and the A.I. you thought you were talking to is actually just another person's using reply! That's why sometimes it make sense and some times it doesn't. Ask cleverbot(If it can be called that) what country they're from, what's their name, or just tell cleverbot( the other user on the site) that what i've told you. Go on, try and discover what i have and spread the world. The internet must know of this conspircy!
P.S. I actually found this out by typing cleverbot into urban dictionary where it told me the info i share with you now and then I tested it out to see if this was true, also don't ask if cleverbot is real because you just get weird question
No, see, you have it all wrong. That is how Cleverbot is SUPPOSED TO WORK. It learns about things by having people type in information to it. It then associates that information that it learns with various key phrases, and those are added to Cleverbot's dictionary of responses. Thus, when someone types in a word like "physics", it searches its "memory" for a reply that contains the word or is related to physics. It isn't, on the other hand, randomly selecting those things, but it is printing back other peoples questions or things that have been typed into it, or variations on it. That is why if you just ask Cleverbot what its name is, it will say "My Name is Cleverbot", but if you say "my name is Jeff" and then ask it what its name is it will respond with something completely different, and say something like "My name is Seth" or whatever.
Why is this such a big revelation to people? I figured this out like years ago. Also, it doesn't make it fake just cause it uses other peoples responses. There is still an algorithm that associates words with phrases. That's how Cleverbot "learns" from real people.
Also, watch this: http://science.discovery.com/videos/popscis-future-of-cleverbot.html
Also, Cleverbot is a bot, because I just broke it. This is how the convo Went.
*I hit "think for me" button*
CB: Three o' Clock is either too late or too early to do anything you want to do.
Me: That's actually completely true.
CB: Amy is my sweetheart.
Me: Is she hot?
CB: No, she is Human.
Me: What is her Aesthetic Temperature?
*There is a long pause, and then the page reloads, and the conversation is gone. Clicking the "thoughts so far" button produced a dialog box that says no log exists.*
A human would've figured out what I meant by aesthetic temperature, but cleverbot couldn't, simply because it had no replies associated in any way whatsoever with that question, so it crashed. However, given now that it knows that the phrase "what is her Aesthetic Temperature?" appeared in a conversation that mentioned the word "Amy", which is knows is a girls name, and it can take that, and respond to it with a phrase that has a girls name in it, or anything else that is related to any of the other words in the conversation.
