Hey, I'm thinking of taking up skateboarding. But I'm not really into the tricks part of skateboarding. So would it be better for me to get a longboard or get a regular skateboard and just not do tricks. Since its gonna be incredibly hard for me starting out.

You should just get rollerblades.

Edit- I guess i didn't explain myself. Skateboards are impractical for pedestrian-style rolling movement compared to rollerblades.

I've been skating for about 4 years or so, so I'll do my part to help out. If you want to cruise, go with longboard. A 7.5 sized Deck is generally for actually doing tricks, so Go with Longboard for cruising.

Get a longboard, one that's drop-through mounted, or has a drop deck, or both. They'll be easier to push. Also get wheels that are 70-75mm or more, those will spin longer. Don't just go to the local skate shop to get it either, I suggest a good online site, unless you have a good longboard store near. Mile High Skates and Daddies Board Shop are both good.
