Yup. People used to tell me this all the time because I used to listen to my music through the same headphones that came with my ipod. I didn't know what they were talking about, but decided to entertain their bitching anyway. I bought a pair of cheap $10 Sony earbuds to try and the moment I turned on the ipod I was like...WAT!? OMG!!! Then in a fit of madness I went out and bought the $70 Sony Earbuds, and then turned those on and was like O_O!!

Music can sound good, who knew.
I know! It's absolute madness. You don't even realise what you're missing out on until you hear the same music on a decent sound system or headphones.

The Skull Candy's were my first pair of large over-ear headphones. So sound wise the quality seemed really good, as they actually had bass. However, my brother had a pair, they broke kinda easily and felt flimsy. I still have them, but the audio has gone in one ear.
At least in USA, SkullCandy will RMA any break. I'd talk to them.

However, I mine are EarForce X11

The signal to noise isn't the best, but I got it for $30 USD, and it works on several platforms. I have some Skullcandy for portable usage. Turtle Beach used to be a №1 name in the business, and they're still pretty good.

These bad boys:

Audio Technica CK400i. Granted they're not brilliant, but they're not bad for the price (I got them on eBay for less than £25). I want some top of the range Audio Technica cans but I can't afford them :(

For vinyl I usually use my dad's Pioneer Monitor 10, but they're kind of heavy (0.5kg) and the general experince is of putting a helmet on your head, even though the sound is awesome. I have Sony MDR605, but the part with the speakers had a foam cover but over the time it basically fell apart (like it actually started crumbling into dust), still they're pretty good even though they're open air.
And for on the go needs I use AKG K314P, but they're kind of large and even though I have big ears they still get uncomfortable after longer listening.
