Australia has banned the import of adult anime products, including hentai, into the country, classifiying the items as 'illegal porn'.

This is nothing new for Australia. The government forces games companies to change many thing before being allowed into Australia. Fallout 3 being a major example.

Yeah, Australia's a bit weird that way. Lots of stuff is illegal, or is illegal to import/download but not if you happen to walk along and find it on the footpath, and people often seem to have a vague idea what.

I think it's because nobody in Australia seems to know or care, no-one makes a fuss or challenges it. This is news internationally ever so often, but people locally aren't interested. Even at the best of times, there's a zillion other reasons not to be happy with the government, and times aren't the best.
