Only EB Games? Because if it is just EB Games then that might really be a carrier/warehousing fuck-up rather than because of EA.

Anyone know if JB Hi-Fi or any of the other big retailers have had a similar issue?
Over here in NZ they're the only retailer that got this edition, I imagine it's the same in Australia too. If so, that doesn't rule out EA.
Good point, and a quick check of JB Hi-Fi seems to confirm a similar case in Australia. So, doesn't rule out the supplier as being the point-of-fuck-up. Be interesting if we actually get to hear what happened.

ok just want to point out how easy it would be to open one of these things take out what you wanted and put it back together. you can slide of the dam plastic and the box is designed to open. Personally I put the fault for this on

1. the carriers, not in that they did a bad job transporting it just maybe did a bad job making sure no one stole from their packages.
2. customs. I don't know about Australia but in the US if customs messes with your stuff they tend to not give two shits about damage after they've seen inside to the point that ive had discs flying around in the case so badly they chipped.
Slide off the damn plastic?

They were factory sealed, as in, the entire box was 100% heat sealed in plastic, with no tears/rips or repairs in the sealing, they had to be physically unsealed with a box cutter to get into them to be checked for damage.

If it were shipping companies or customs, I highly doubt that 95% of them would have been damaged and stolen from, we aren't talking about some of them being damaged, we are talking about ALL but some of them being damaged.

You could argue that the shipping companies or customs re-sealed them (which is a bit out there, I doubt customs have heat sealers and plastic of the same variety and size, customs also doesn't have to do that as anything seized by customs has to be labelled and they have no obligation to keep it in the same condition), but a quick youtube search of unboxings and seeing what the factory seal looked like on the editions that arrived in Australia would seem to suggest they came direct from the factory and were never opened.
they arnt heat seal man at least mine wasn't. they have a plastic cover that one can slide off with a little effort and then put back on with a little more. so yeah one can open then put the thing back together rather easily.

Well, that sucks for our Australian gaming brethren. The worst part about it is they can only get a partial refund at best. I'd be pissed if I were in their shoes.
Balderdash. EB is only OFFERING partial refunds, but Australian consumer law says they can be forced to give a full refund if it's demanded. They can't refuse a full refund if the product they're offering is damaged or incomplete (i.e. not as advertised). They'll do everything they can to avoid letting people know that, but threaten to take it to the Ombudsman and they won't be able to hand your money back fast enough.
You must have to go to a shitty EB. At the EB where I picked up mine that was pretty much the first thing they said, that if it's damaged, or even if I just don't like it I can come back and get a full refund, then they said I get $30AUD back by default.

Definitely sounds like purposeful sabotage, most likely at the place where everything was packaged as different things come from different suppliers, the only other thing to explain that volume of product damage (like an ISO getting dropped or a container coming loose at sea) would have trashed the packaging as well.

I have seen the kind of mess a loose or leaking container can cause and it doesn't just break a few items in each box and I have seen what can happen when you get a disgruntled employee or a bunch of buffoons together trying to upstage each other, funny that the "coins" went missing. Anyone want to take a bet with me that they are the exact same size and weight of coins used in a parking meter or something?

I'd be surprised if word gets out about how this has happened. But I guess only time will tell.

Yeah, I'd be surprised as well. Sometimes you get lucky though and end up with a whole bunch of "no, it was their fault" buck-passing that makes the whole situation little clearer (or even more needlessly complicated). But I'll still be very surprised if any reason is ACTUALLY made public.

You seem to be very confused. They only have to offer a full refund if you do not want the product, which they are doing by the way. They are also giving everybody, even those who received an undamaged product partial refunds which is more then they are required.

That means the one you received was unsealed.

I saw every edition arrive at the store, they were heat sealed in plastic wrapping, then the plastic slip around the box.
