It appears the Titanic will sail again... kind of.

"A full-size working replica of the Titanic is to be built in China following an historic agreement between an Australian entrepreneur and a Chinese shipyard who are poised to sign a deal.

Titanic II is due to be completed by 2016. She will then be sailed to the UK and prepared for her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York - a repeat of the 1912 journey which ended in disaster."

What do the escapist think? Do any of you want to sail on her?

There's already a Titanic 2 though.

And agreed with the replica iceberg. The people do demand it!

Well, that's not tempting fate at all.

Man, sure must be nice to have so much money that you can just wake up one day and decide to build a replica ocean liner.

"God himself PROBABLY could not sink this ship!"

If at first you don't succeed, I guess...

what?
The Titanic had two sister-ships, the RMS Olympic and the HMHS Britannic. The Olympic collided with another ship (the HMS Hawke) and the Britannic was sunk by either a torpedo or a mine. So yeah... not a stellar track record for that class of ships.

Or maybe he was talking about the horrible, horrible movie... Titanic II.

This can only end well...

I do wonder, how close of a replica will this be? Just the life boat situation alone cannot (because of the iceberg, all cruise ships MUST have space for 125% of their maximum capacity) make it completely copy of the looks of the Titanic.

The King said I was daft to build an "unsinkable" ship, but I built it all the same, just to show 'em. It sank into the ocean, so! I built a second one...

That one sank into the ocean. So I built a third one!.... That one burned down, fell over, then sank into the ocean, but the fourth one stayed up! And that's what you're getting, lad, the strongest boat in this ocean!

Will it be captained by Zapp Brannigan? It just won't be a Titanic voyage otherwise.

Here's to hoping that no giant chunks of ice ruin the moment.
101 years ago, ticket prices were around this:

1st class: $4,350
2nd class: $1,350
3rd class: $30

Practically chump change by today's standards.
Just remember that on the Titanic 1st class is the way to go for surviving.
Go 3rd class if you're stingy or want to press your luck.

ah good old clive palmer. for those of you who don't know the guy is (one of) australia's insane billionaire
honestly the size of the ship isn't really that impressive by today's standards but the luxury element is what is gonna cost him

there's also a really bad dick move by palmer regarding the titanic this week where he was quoted as saying "I'm funding this myself because I want to spend the money I've got before I die." it's a dick move because recently another australian billionaire has offered to give away half of his wealth to the giving pledge

no word on gina rineheart yet whos roughly 30 billion dollars could prolly single handedly end word hunger
