There's already a Titanic 2 though.
what?
The Titanic had two sister-ships, the RMS Olympic and the HMHS Britannic. The Olympic collided with another ship (the HMS Hawke) and the Britannic was sunk by either a torpedo or a mine. So yeah... not a stellar track record for that class of ships.

Or maybe he was talking about the horrible, horrible movie... Titanic II.

This one may have a chance, considering Violet Jessop isn't going to travel on it the bad luck may be gone. For those that don't know, Violet Jessop was on all 3 Olympic class ships when each had their accident, Olympic with the hawk, Titanic sinking and Britannic sinking. Heck she was on one of the lifeboats that was sucked into Britannic's propellers. She was lucky to keep brushing up against death and surviving, but the ships she rode on weren't.

I wonder what what kind of drinks they'll serve? Aussie on the Rocks?
More likely aussies on ice.

Will it have enough life boats this time?
Yes, if you look at the image at the top you can see the extra deck they slipped in specifically for more boats to cover new regulations. Personally I wish it had of received the Britannic upgrades instead in that regard.

So, let's get this straight. The Chinese can't even successfully copy something that works (see their automobile industry full of cars that look like European ones that were described to them over the phone!). And now they're going to try to copy something that really didn't work at all!!

I can't put my finger on what exactly, but a little something tells me this could end badly

Part of me wants it to sink, just for the hilarity of it all. Then the sanest part of me remembers the people, the awfully cold waters and the humongous waste of money it'd be.

EDIT:

Did she have any children, perchance?

Well at the very least she'll be required to have enough lifeboats so... the ship will be slightly safer.

Yeah, because Chinese equipment is known for it's unscrupulous safety record and not putting things banned in the west *cough* lead paint *cough* into the stuff they sell.

as long as its not a seaquel to the movie then thats cool
It's actually a thing. [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1640571/?ref_=sr_2]

OT: Ballsy move, but I guess if you don't believe in curses and such then you should be okay going on it.

According to Wikipedia, no she didn't. So hopefully were safe.....

....... oh who am I kidding, its made in China. Our new Warratah trains 3rd batch needed to be sent back due to shoddy work, their defence? Our standards are too high. Well if their too high don't accept the contract you nob, instead of doing a half assed job.

Here's to hoping that no giant chunks of ice ruin the moment.
101 years ago, ticket prices were around this:

1st class: $4,350
2nd class: $1,350
3rd class: $30

Practically chump change by today's standards.
Just remember that on the Titanic 1st class is the way to go for surviving.
Go 3rd class if you're stingy or want to press your luck.

captcha: enjoy a "vacation upgrade" with which cruise line?
Psychic captcha knows we be talking 'bout boats.
What costs $30 in 1912 would cost $702.85 in 2013.
Inflation and all that.

This can only end well...

I do wonder, how close of a replica will this be? Just the life boat situation alone cannot (because of the iceberg, all cruise ships MUST have space for 125% of their maximum capacity) make it completely copy of the looks of the Titanic.
It's supposed to be near 100%, with the segregation of the classes and all. The only changes I heard of are enough life boats and a cinema.

It would be cool to go on it and see what Titanic actually looked like inside and how big it was, although by todays standards it was probably pretty small. Sailing on it however, no thanks.

I'm sure someone already said it but wouldn't it be ironic if this one careened into an iceberg too. (honestly I'm just glad it's not another movie)

No, if it's going to sink because of something, it has to be because a shark did something stupid to it. Then the next movie can be a Titanic/Jaws crossover.

A cinema huh? If they don't show Titanic the movie during the maiden voyage I'll be terrible dissapointed.

OT: Really, calling your ship "unsinkable" is tempting enough for fate. I can just imagine that there will be people willing to arrange an "accident" once the ship sails just to go Ha-haw!

That's an interesting way of spending your fortune. "Dude, if I were a millionaire I would totally rebuild the Titanic. Just cause, you know?".
