Hi guys,

So, I want to author a DVD, which would mean it's playable on DVD players. I want to be able to have a custom menu, add subtitles, etc. Basically, I want enough functionality that I'll be able to make it more or less look like a studio DVD.

For those who have done it, or know someone who's done it, what's some recommended software (hopefully free or cheap) that would let me do this?

Thanks!

I've used DeVeDe in linux. The DVD's menus had an early 90s amateur wedding VHS vibe to them but it did the job well enough. There is a windows version which isn't maintained anymore but it's worth a try.

i used to use a program called dvdlab a few years back http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/

amazingly powerful and with a format that easily shows you how your buttons and links work. i mainly used it because i wanted an easy way to set up buttons and transitions so i could have multiple videos be easily and clearly accessible while being able to study how to make professional looking dvds

honesty couldn't say how it stands up to the competition these days since dvds have gone out of favor since usb drives took over media
