I like the auto targeting in Red Dead Redemption because it's mainly just used for figuring out where enemies are. Some games, like GTA 4, have a very restrictive auto targeting system, but the one in Red Dead just centers your gun on an enemy, or better still, small animal running through tall grass, but allows you to aim freely if you want. It's the best of both worlds.

RDR seems to be more about the experience than the challenge.

It doesn't have the same difficulty as GTA but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

The game is supposed to make you feel like the most badass cowboy this side of the border. Besides, it's not like cowboys in real life don't have auto-aim. Psh, with the shitty accuracy of 1900s weapons, you could ask yourself how anyone even died otherwise back then.
And the response to that is "how does one feel badass when everything is done for him?" Its like feeling badass for never taking the training wheels off one's bike. "RIDIN UR BIEK WITHOUT TRAININ WHEELS IS 4 NUBS, PROS US EVRY ADVANTAGE DAWG"

It could be worse, though. They could've hidden the auto-aim, further convincing a whole new generation of console users that thumbsticks aren't complete dogshit.
Yeah, I see your point :D

Well, if you really don't want auto-aim, get a gaming PC and wait for a port.

I thought you could just turn it off in multiplayer or join games without it on?

To quote a guy from another forum -

"Seriously, I'm tired of the bitching about autoaimers in FR.

Helpful tip, if it annoys you DON'T DO IT

The only reason people are auto-aiming on you is because you're doing it to them. If you're aim control is set to Expert, they have to manual aim, too. Right now, all I see are a few babies crying about how they want the easy button all to themselves.

I'm usually on Expert unless I'm grinding the Mines, then I set to Normal because I just want XP, I don't care about skill :p Though, I love hearing the voice chats with people screaming "That guy has to be hacking, I can't lock on", when I have Expert on."

So if this is true just turn it off -_-

Auto in GTA games is actually preferred. Aiming on the PSP is a nightmare. PSP!

I only like Auto when you're trying to hit them and you're trailing them.
