Haven't seen this on the site yet, but

My first thoughts were 'I saw that coming.'

You tricked me. I was hoping for Airbender.
Well in-case you haven't heard the legend of Korra IS coming out ;).

So both avatars are getting sequels!
I have heard of Korra. I've also gotten a basic idea as to what they intend to cover.

However, I missed the point where they were going to release it...

Why? Is James Cameron just going "Fuck it. I can pay for this out of pocket. It was getting time to beat my old record anyway."?

November 2011. It is only going to be 12 episodes long. Should be good though.

Over $3 billion in worldwide sales speaks volumes as to the potential for sequels.

I personally loved the movie, though I can see why people weren't impressed. I never understood why people hated it though.

Interesting. They'll have to come up with some new gimmicks to cover up the uninteresting movie, though. 3D isn't going to cut it by the time these come out.

hmm... I don't see these going so well... The first Avatar was a good movie, but was more a visual piece than anything else, thats not to say the story or acting was bad far from it, but the biggest part of it was the technology used to create the beautiful landscape and amazing creatures. A second and third wont have quite the same effect because the aw inspired by the first movie wont be the there because it has already been seen. Also the first one ended, and that was it, there were few lose ends and none that were substantial enough to make a squeal let alone 2. These are just being added to capitalize on the massive success of the first, which will have them do well enough, but be nowhere near as good as the first one.

What, a sequel to the famous feature-length tech demo with a plot blatantly ripped off from Dances with Wolves. I think I'll pass on it.

Wow JC is directing them? Avatar must really be his pet project. I'll watch them of course, but I doubt they wont be stale by the third installment.

The story in Avatar is the oldest story in the book, bad people invade good people, good people win, of course with a political undertone and a save the planet bullshit hidden message... what impressed me was the visuals, showing that 3D had become much more than a cheesy gimmick, after finding myself immersed in the movie. Now that the glamour is worn off and the rose tinted 3D glasses are off, JC better step it up in the story department.

Good

I got dragged to the first one. He stole my money. Now I can say no fucking way I'm going to that money grabbers next two movies! I should have said that about the first one. Normally people oh we are making a second film. No he goes looks it a trilogy.

It's nothing more then people who can animate well. Love story + animation doesn't equal best film ever.

Hollywood continually reminds me of the old World War 2 propaganda slogan, "Is This Trip Really Necessary?"

I don't know about other people, but the fact that the storyline is such a recycled one and the fact that I think 3D is a gimmick (I will continue to unless something completely blows my mind) is why I hated it.
