Hi there! Welcome to the Old School reboot of the Avatar Adventure thread!
Some of the older members enjoyed the old setup of Heroes vs Villains back in the day so we made a new thread to get back in touch with our roots and bring it to a new generation of RPers!

There will be great tales of adventure, struggle, hardships, success, a bit of romance and maybe even family in here. But overall, the most important thing is teamwork. The Heroes can't win without it and neither can the Villains. All of this with your Fourum Avatars no less!

Rules: 2 characters at most.(1 hero and one villain standard)

-try to be fair, no massively overpowered character

-don't be that one person who is the loner. You will be killed off by the heroes or villains because you are an easy target.

-you can borrow other people's characters for very simple actions, but no making decisions.

-KEEP IT SIMPLE!!! Some people got it in their minds to create 5 paragraph long posts where they put in detail about their character, what they did, why they did it, what color their weapon was when they did it, etc.

A few lines if it's something that really just isn't properly able to be replied to, but a paragraph or two would be nice for an average post.

-any concerns/questions/comments should either be pm'd to me or posted in the group linked to below.

Name: Thialfi

Age: Unknown, though he looks like and acts like a 16 year old kid.

Race: Human

Alignment: Neutral Good

Origin: Norse Mythology

Title: Servant of Thor

Clothing: He wears a scarlet silk tunic, over black pants and simple sandals. His belt is a dull gunmetal grey, and made of iron, similar to his gauntlet on his right hand in that they both feature a simple drawing of a rectangle with a stick poking out of it. He also wears an orange bandana around his neck, with a yellow lightning bolt decorating it. The sword at his side is an average thing, though the honking big, yet simple looking, hammer hanging off his back.

Appearance: He's a small child, standing at around 5'6 feet tall, with a fair complexion. His emerald green eyes show are resolute and brave, if a bit naive. He has long unkempt red hair, that falls to his waist in a loose ponytail, and chin stubble that he managed to grow in his year long abstaining from the Golden Apples.

Weapons: An average double bladed steel short sword is his main weapon, though if he feels the need he'll pull his masters' weapon, Mjolnir, which is mostly used as a thrown weapon, though functions surprisingly well at close range. Just mind the lightning.

Powers: While he has no powers beyond peak physical conditioning, Mjolnir gives him some minor control over lightning and thunder. He's also very fast, able to almost beat the very concept of thought in a foot race.

Weakness: Without Mjolnir, he has no real power beyond that of an in shape kid, and he needs an iron gauntlet and belt to even use the thing without killing himself, and it's powers are finicky, often activating with no warning or not activating simplyy because. He's also not exactly the brightest of people, and has a problem with following instructions

Bio: Born the son of the farmer Emil, he had an average upbringing till he reached his teenage years, and his family was visited by the mighty Aesir Thor, who struck a deal with his father. He would be allowed to stay in their home, so long as Thor kept resurrecting the goat for an unlimited food supply. This went on for weeks, though Thialfi one day decided he was still hungry after finishing his meal, and broke the leg off the goat and ate the marrow. Thor found out about this, as he resurrected the goat it had a broken leg.

He was enraged by this, but was placated by Emil when he offered Thialfi and his sister to be Thor's servants. The Aesir accepted, and Thialfi began his new life in Asgard. Admittedly, he did little, listening to stories of Loki and his shenanigans, as well as of wonderful battles of the past, and the one great war in the future. He was ready for action when his first mission came about, and he was asked to accompany Thor and Loki as they went to Jotunheim.

They had fought many battles there, although when it was time to head back they were too far in, and the weather was sour, so they spent their time in a cave, which turned out to be the Giant Wizard Skrymir's sock. He invited them to stay at his actual cave, and after Thor had been tricked into smashing a mountain, he invited the crew to his kingdom, so they naturally visited the place.

Once there, they all got into contests of skill, Loki in an eating contest with fire, Thor in a wrestling match with the world serpent and drank a portion of the ocean. Thialfi himself got into a race with Huginn, or Thought. He had lost, of course, for no thing can compare to the speed of thought, and the group went home humiliated.

For awhile, he did nothing. Until Odin got into a foot race with a giant, and won. The giant picked a fight with Thor, and the two went off to combat the giant. The giant, however, was sneaky and made a clay being, which scared Thor. Thialfi, seeing through the deception, beat the monster handily, allowing Thor to fight the true giant and win. After this, they returned to Asgard, where Thialfi served Thor for as long as posswible, before striking out for awhile to alleviate his boredom. A sympathetic Thor even allowed him to take his Hammer, though with the strict warning that should he lose the belt, it would be too heavy, and if he lost the glove it would not return to his hands once thrown.

Well, this quickly turned into a Norse Mythology lesson, and I apologize for that.

Since I've never done an avatar game (assuming its avatar meaning the pretty picture next to our user name not avatar meaning airbenders and/or giant space smurfs) I was wondering how these games work.

Do we make a character based on said pretty picture (I play a french llama superhero) or do we find a picture of a preexisting character and play that (I find a picture of superman or serving and play as superman)?

well, you can play as the lama, or superman. it's based off of wwhatever you set your avatar to. it can be a creation of your own or some character you like. the point here is to have fun and work as a team to beat the other one.

Origin: From Previous AA universe, the daughter of two Characters.

Title: Dark Paladin

Clothing: Full, propper Victorian dress.

Appearance: Stand at about 5ft 5 and

Weapons:Short sword.

Powers:
Has the ability to create black angel wings on her back that she can fly with.
Is on the superhuman strength and speed side of things.
Has the ability to awaken her sharingan.
Knows the Great fireball echnique
And the Chidori technique

-Dark Paladin Trigger-

Spoiler: Dark Paladin trigger appearence

-Divine smite: massive black lightning bolt comes from the sky and strike her sword, allowing the girl to direct the lighting at her opponent.
-Holy might: Her sword glows with a black light that does massive amounts of damage to the evil and undead + Deamons
-Strength of the Divines: her strength and speed, along with perception is increased greatly while in the paladin trigger form.
Weakness:
Alcohol (is a horridly bad drunk)
Anything that would cut her off from her Divinity

Backstory: Born to Amaya Hatashi and Dillon, she is one of a set of twins. Her brother Icarus and her make a well oiled fighting team. Raised in the void, outside the universe, they were each trained well by their parents and had everythign needed supplied to them by their grandfather.
Ofcourse, with people who are essentially as powerful as deities for parents, you're going to be trained well and hard.But she was loved and takes after her mother, who was a kunoichi before becoming an angel.

Origin Plains

Origin plains, the birth place of the Avatar Adventure. This is where all of the archs after resets begin. Everyone will spawn into here one way or another. To the east lies the Good side, to the west lies the evil. Here is where you choose your side and state your allegiance.

Athenus.

There was a swirling vortext into the middle of the plains. Out of it popped a teenage girl dressed in Victorian era looking clothing. "Ouch!" she let out as her butt bounced across the ground. Standing up and rubbing her rear end, she looked around for her brother. "Icarus! Oh brother! where are you?" she shouted to the four winds, trying to find him.

She began to wander around, just generally keep a watch out to find him.

Weapons: "Right here." Hand to Hand.

Powers:
Gather energy - Adelheid can channel energy from a wide array of sources, provided he can get his hands on them

Sense - Adelheid can sense the energy fields of those nearby.

Energy Projectile - Adelheid can fire projectiles of energy from his hands and feet. The Reppuken is an example.

Energy Reflector - Adelheid can create a barrier that reflects projectiles.

Slashing aura - Adelheid can create a cutting aura around his hands legs, giving his attacks and blocks the properties of a sword. The Genocide Cutter is an example

Endurance/Durability - Can take extreme amounts of pain and injuries before being defeated

Enhanced Strength/Speed - Like his father, he possesses superhuman strength and above average speed and reflexes.

Skills
As the son of the "Ex-King of Fighters", he is arguably the best martial artist in the entire world.

Mimicry - A trait he inherited from his father, Adel can break down and learn movements of special moves and techniques by merely observing them

Weakness
As a human, he can still be injured by anything that can hurt a human.

Emotionally unstable

Excessive use of Ki Attacks can cause him to faint


Backstory: Adel started his life as a pawn of his father, Rugal Bernstein, in a bid to cheat death. He was created by his father's demands to set up a cloning system so whenever he died, he could always come back. As the years went on, however, the Heroes finally managed defeat him and to shut down the system and he was used a bargaining chip by many of his father's former allies, being seen as a "Living Weapon". Years of trauma have taken their toll and now all Adel wants to do is bury his father.

By doing what he could never do: Take over the world.

Thialfi fell through a portal, falling on his face. He rolled onto his rear end, pulling weeds out of his teeth as he looked around. Pretty much nothing, but a frolicking girl in odd clothing.

"OI, YOU! Where are we?" He shouted, as loud as he could. Not as loud as thunder, but he had to have heard him, were his thoughts as he pulled himself up, and checked over his weapons. His sword was fine, and his hammer in place, spotless as ever. If he had scratched it even partially, he knew he would not be able to return to Asgard. Or at least never get to leave afterwards. Maybe ODin would lock him in the basement, with Mimir.

As soon as the girl had heard someone shout, she immediately spun in the direction of the shout. In the same motion, she pulled the short sword out of its sheath at her waist. "Name yourself! And State your alignment!" she shouted back at him. She was getting ready, building up chakra reserves in herself in case this came down to a fight. It wasn't hard to tell the girl was expertly trained with a sword. Underneath the dress, her entire stance and form was proper to mess someone up.

Name:David Storn

Age:31 but the powers of The Mall have made him age slower so he's been around for a while.

Race:Northerner
Alignment:Lawful Good

Origin: Swords of the Fallen Realm.

Title: Captain-Commander of the 13th Legion.

Weapons:David caries 4-5 small throwing knifes, some potions and a staff he uses for walking and spell casting.

Appearance:David has blue eyes, a 5'o clock shadow bread, few scars and looks like he's been through quite a few wars, short messy black hair, well build and he's 6,0 feet tall.

this is David but his hair and facial hair is black

Powers:David Storn is a mage who can use Earth, Fire and lightning magic and also use healing spells.

Powers:David Storn is a capable survivalist, and has a considerable brain for battle tactics and grand strategy.

Weakness: David's primary Achilles' Heel is his surprisingly short temper and reliance on instantaneous executions.

Backstory: David was born on Mt SliverBack homeland of the northerners and later moved to the city of Ardour on top of An active volcano called Mt Vulkan home to the Vulcans who use their magic to keep the volcano from erupting, David was a wandering northerner at the age of 18 at the time and the Vulcans requested even begged that he'd be trained by them apparently they were overwhelmed by the raw power that was flooding out of me and that they haven't feel that much power since a mysterious sage appeared before King Antonius and told him that he knew a way to defeat the elite soldiers of the malum kingdom and ended the 2-year War, so I trained and trained, 12 years later a mysterious portal appeared in the middle of a road he was walking on and sucked him and what he had on me at the time into it and he's been teleported all over the universe since that day.

Personality: A disciplined and ruthless person, John despises any other cowardly or disobedient man. He also has a habit of throwing fire/lightning and earth at said cravens/dissenters immediately and on his own judgement, but he does have a soft spot for the little guy trying to get by.

a portal appears a few feet off the ground and an strange man with a staff falls out "OW! oh god my back hurts oooow" he said before picking himself up of the ground "ah where the hell am i!?" he said looking around

"HA, you question ME?! I'm Thialfi, loyal servant to the god of thunder, Thor! We are the greatest good this side of Yggdrasil! Or would you prefer apocalypse?!" Thialfi shook his head towards the girl, poor poor ignorant girl.

Although, her stance was good, better than most in Valhalla. She was at least strong, so Thialfi drew his shortsword, a bolt of lightning running down the blade. He pointed it at the girl, fire blazing in his eyes.

"Put down the weapon, or we'll see how many volts you can take."

Athenus backed up a bit, she nearly stumbled she turned around and saw a young man in black he was resting peacefully.
"Icarus what are you doing?"
The young man put his fingers to his lips
"Shhhhh, I'm trying to sleep," he could feel his sister staring at him
"COme on sis you know I love to sleep on cool grass."
"You like to sleep on anything soft. come on and get up." she extended her hand
Icarus had a smug smile he extended his hand and Athenus pulled him up it was a slight strain due to his body weight and the weight of his hidden chainmail.
he got up shook his head ad let his wings appear they stretched out as he yawned he then saw the redheaded young man
"Who's the ginger?"

Origin: From Previous AA universe, the Son of two Characters.

Title: Dark Angel

Clothing: Black tunic with a dark blue undershirt, Dark blue pants and black leather boots. has two cloaks that he switches between, one is blue and is made of wool the together is black silk that is gold on the inside. he tends takes the cloak off when fighting of if he has to fly. underneath his clothes he has a set of black chain-mail the mail fits to his body so it doesn't much noise if any.

Appearance: stands at 5'8, has pale skin, and due to wearing dark colors he looks even paler, has somewhat long rather messy raven hair, he has Bright Violet eyes,

Weapons:
-He is very good at the martial arts being trained by his mother, he relies on hand to hand more than anything else

He has two conventional weapons
-Dark Excalibur: a black sword that is not the sword of arthurian legend but a replica, it has he ability to drain health, he is not well practiced with a sword aside from basic cutting.
-Trident Of darkness: a long black trident this weapon has a cold aura, Icarus doesn't like touching it.

Powers:
-Black lighting, a dangerous form of electricity that can cause much terrible damage, said lightning becomes more volatile when he's angered.

Spoiler: Techniques

-Black Bolt: a common technique he charges up a large bolt of lightning there seems to be a fair bit of mass as the bolt can punch holes and even knock opponents to the ground.

-Thunder Shock Surprise:a dangerous finishing attack, it turns the opponents energy to electricity shocking the victim, however its power has two drawbacks, first Icarus has to have the opponent in a grab before he can do it, and secondly the energy seems to also affect him, draining away most of his energy and can even cause him electrical shocks, the technique is mostly meant for opponents stronger than him.

-He can Conjure powerful Illusions these illusions help as his method of fighting is very aggressive he fights by scaring his opponents so they either run away, or he can make them weak so he can quickly finish them off. His illusions are very difficult to see through and most can't shake them off.
- He has two black wings the wings appear natural but he can somehow make them disappear .
-He is very strong and very fast, even if he can't use his Ki, fighting him in hand to hand is very risky due to his strength and training



Weakness:
-He has very low stamina and endurance, This is why he fights to drop his enemies quickly, a severe hit can cripple him. He relies on Using Ki to fight but doing so drain his energy.
-Energy Draining techniques cripple his powers though he can fight hand to hand as he retains his strength and speed, and flightt, which appears to not consume any energy.
-Creating illsuions requires a calm mind and stalwart concentration, meanign he can't create them under intense pressure.
-His emotions are very strong, And at times its hard for him to calm down.

Personality: He may seem intimidating with his dark clothes also he inherited the intense glare of his father but he can be a bit shy, especially when alone with someone he doesn't know. He tends to be more relaxed and even friendly with people he knows, he can be a bit arrogant at times, and has a fondness of keeping his wings out, the wings are a part of his body meaning he tends to hold them a certain way depending on his emotions. He has a tendency to eat and sleep a bit more than average, this is likely due to his use of his powers so it's a means of restoring energy.

Icarus was trained by his mother and father, his Father showed him how to fly, Icarus has many fond memories flying with his Dad in the Void.

After helping her brother stand up, she turned back to him. "I don't know. Seems to be some kid spouting off that he's related to or follows a Germanic god or something." she said and turned back to the 16 year old with the short sword.

"Hey, that's a neat trick. shame i know it too." Athenus said to him, her own sword becoming encased with crackling electricity, Athenus letting her chidori current flow through the sword.

Having just noticed the new arrival here, she kept her eyes on Thialfi. "Hey, new guy, with the staff. Keep your head down if this thing goes south." she shouted at him.
"Now, i'll put my weapon away if you do so with your's sparky." she called out across the distance to the 16 year old.

"Now, i'll put my weapon away if you do so with your's sparky."

"Do you expect me to simply allow you to insult me? Never!" Thialfi growled at the girl, putting both hands on his sword. She had help, he had a Mjolnir. He favored his odds in this.

Thialfi switched his sword hand, and drew his hammer, before beginning his charge. He was fast, almost unbelievably so, closing the distance in a matter of seconds, before striking out with his short sword, extending its' reach with the lightning.

 

[Orinon]

As he ran he heard a sharp noise as he began to strike, something had grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and was thrown away. Thiafli looked and saw the young boy had grabbed him and threw him to the ground.
"Don't touch my sister." Icarus said anger in his eyes the violet eyes seemed darker and the pupil was a bit strange almost taking a diamond like shape.
Black lightening harged in beween his finger as he aimed his gun at the fighter.
"Now apologize"

Thialfi felt himself getting thrown off his course, and managed to land on his butt again. He picked himself up while the new challenger threatened him.

"Now apologize"

"What kinda idiot gets in the way of a fight? She can fight for herself, and I can fight the both of you!" Thialfi raised his hammer, a bolt of lightning struck Icarus' gun, sending it flying away. He used the advantage to throw his hammer, the force of several thousand pounds struck the man square in the ribs, before it quickly turned around to return to Thialfi's outstretched palm.

"If you survive through that, make sure you don't get back up. I won't hold back next time." He turned back to the woman, the original aggressor, pointing his sword at her and circling around slowly.

Thialfi found that the girl was not there the plains had turned blood red and the sky was grayish purple.
"This is my world" he said as he caught the gun as it came back into this hand he then appeared to float up back he looked as if he hadn't be en injured which was because of Thialfi being under the affect of the illusion charged bullet the cause of the loud noise he had heard earlier.
"Now cool it before I lose my temper." he said as the ground shook violently, solid stone claws shot out of the ground forming a cage to tight for him to leave. he pushed but he couldn't break and mjlomnir seemed to have fallen out of his reach.
"You fool, You recklessly threaten my sister not pausing to takw the time to estblish your bearing and now your under my spell." Thiafli was in a tight jam, unable to escape and this boy was paying with his mind perfectly. he couldn't dispel the strange world he had no idea he was under these illusions

Title: 'Purifier'

Clothing: Baseball player's getup

Appearance: ...look at the picture. Also usually portrayed as having no eyes and only a mouth, but is sometimes shown having closed eyes or four eyes. For here, let's say his eyes are always closed.

Weapons: Steel Bat

Powers: Several attacks and powers named after baseball terms. Examples:

'The Wide Angle' - allows The Batter to analyze his enemies
'Save First/Second/Third/Fourth Base' - heals The Batter or a teammate varying degrees of HP depending on which is chosen
'Run with Grace/Courage/Dementia/Belief' - does damage of any four elements (Metal/Plastic/Smoke/Meat), depending on which is chosen
'Furious/Special/Magic/Ultimate Homerun' - does damage of varying degrees depending on which is chosen

Weakness: Cats, various types of magic

Backstory:

Spoiler: Spoilered in case you don't want to know the ending/symbolism of the game

Nothing much was known about Batter until he showed up to the mysterious Zone 0, claiming to be on a 'sacred mission' to defeat impure spirits and purify worlds. During his journey, he managed to defeat the guardians of each zone and accomplish his mission, which in turn, wiped the once populous and colorful Zones into nonexistent, blank slates. In the end, he made it all the way to the most sacred Zone of all, titled 'The Room', where it is said he savagely beat his wife and child to death, still carrying his belief that he was only 'purifying' them. At the end of the game, it was revealed that he had turned into a monster himself, and was defeated by the The Judge, a cat that occasionally guided him throughout the zones.
