Avatar Bias

I have a dislike of people who lack avatars. Makes it difficult to keep track of a conversation in a thread. On the same note, I dislike extremely generic avatars, such as bland anime style characters or MLP ones. Note I just mean the ones which look the same as any other; I've nothing against anime or MLP. Just that the art style's so simple it's hard to tell avatars apart.

I don't really have a bias against any avatar...execpt of a lack of thereforth.

Edit: Oh, and people with the same avatar as me, that's just annoying.

I'm glad to be one of the only ones with moustachioed Spike as mine then. I think there's only 1 other person who uses it, and it looks different from mine anyway.

I can't think of anything that really truly bothers me in regard to avatars. I suppose pinup avatars do; you know, where the gal/guy is scantily - and in the case of anime often nonsensically - clad and in a provocative and unnatural pose. And lolis can bother me a little if they are in said provocative pose. Really? That?s what you want to be identified by?

I might even skim past post with such avatars at times, along with the avatar-less posts.

Original avatars are fun though! Since the Red Button Incident I?ve realised how much I recognise users by their avatars, and the original ones stand out. Sorry bronies, I like that show too, but some of you are starting to blend in with each other.

I?ve been thinking of changing my own avatar (again) but I like how simple it is, thinking of the comic it?s from makes me grin, and it?s kinda me; I want to be able to give the whole world the Thumbs-up of Encouragement!

No she isnt, she is just a little homeless girl!

Beyond that. Nah, I find little pony avatars a bit annoying, but I aint particularry biased against anything.

To put it simply:

I can think of many words to describe the above image, and "cute" is definitely not among them. I just plain old don't like "kawaii" girls (or however the hell you spell it), they annoy me while simultaneously giving off a very creepy vibe.

No insult intended to you though. If you like 'em then that's your business, and I'm no one to judge.

EDIT: Except that one person with a disturbingly sexual Rainbow Dash avatar. Yeah, you. You know who you are.

I don't recall seeing anyone with a sexual Rainbow Dash avatar. Perhaps you mean Je Suis Ubermonkey [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/Je+Suis+Ubermonkey], who has a sexual Fluttershy avatar.

I really don't have a problem with any avatars, myself. People who change their avatars around all the time can be slightly irritating, because it makes it harder to keep track of who's who, since I identify people by their avatar, most of the time.

To be quite honest I've never really taken the time to think that much about an avatar. I tend to read the post and I usually take a quick glance, if that, at the avatar. This thread has sort changed that as I've been looking at most of the avatars of posts I've read.

I really don't like the "Glorious PC Master Race" or whatever it is, avatar.

The only thing I don't like about MLP avatars is that it makes it harder to remember people, as I like to remember people by their avatar but when every 3rd person has a pony it makes that more difficult.

I have no negative bias, but I tend to pay attention to those with Majoras Mask or DBZ avatars more.

I mean, really, how unique is my avatar? There's only a small handful of people with a Majora avatar here, so I like to feel that mine stands out.

when I see the same avatar for 2 people in the same thread. It makes my way of learning whom people are get balls'd up. Hasn't happened here yet. I don't have any bias against avatars, as they're purely ways of identification for me, not as ways to tell who someone is. I guess animated ones somewhat annoy me as I guess hypnotised by them.

Bland unoriginal avatars, the kind of image you'd see everywhere even in general life. Something which everyone knows, it shows a complete lack of effort and really reflects nothing about the user whatsoever, they're either a bland sheep or are an annoying 'so hip they're doing the mainstream' ironical bastard... Haha, now it's turned into a guessing game. Yes, Julianking93 is the avatar I was talking about. I hasten to add that the person himself is fine and writes some interesting things. I have nothing at all against him. It's just that I used to have a girlfriend who would occasionally act like a cat, holding up her hand like a paw and meowing. Over and over, and over. It was cute for about ten seconds, then it became annoying as hell. Julianking93's avatar has the exact same feeling to it.

BTW, Steppin Razor, yours strangely does not bother me at all, I think it's kinda cute actually.

I've changed my avatar only once since I got here. Used to be a glaring Maka Albarn.
I try to be less aggressive these days, so I think this Nisa avatar is probably better suited.

The reduction in "hurr durr why does anyone like JRPGs?" threads that I've noticed this year probably helps with the whole non-aggression thing.

Seeing all these comments about people disliking trollface have given me the urge to hit up the avatar store and see if I can get a trollface edited on to my avatar.

Nah, not really. No avatars bug me, but lack-of avatars do. I remember people by their avatar more than their name usually so when someone doesn't have an avatar I feel kinda like I don't trust them in some strange way.

On a side note, I wonder if anyone has a bias to my Pulsating Vagina Monster gif that I made?

It really creeps me out.

Note that I'm not trying to start something here or anything but let me just say that if Lucky Star was your first, and presumably only, encounter with lolicon or "kawaii"/cute style anime, I can tell you your creeped out-ness is justified.
I like lolicon and Lucky Star freaks me out. I find it funny that people who tend to like that show are the types who get mad at me for liking Kodomo no Jikan (look it up... maybe. >.>) when Lucky Star is possibly one of the most sexually perverted anime I've ever seen.
And to top it off, it's boring as hell.
