I'm biased against the avatars of people who turn a simple Avatar Yay/Nay thread into a MLP bashing thread!

Especially YOU! YES YOU, ADRIAN! (Not that's your name, I just wanted to quote Zero Punctuation for a second)

I love how people think that Brony's give a damn about haters. I mean, the Twilight books are a big Yay or Nay topic, but you don't see me take time out my schedule to bash it into a fine powder!

You wanna hate? Fine! But just know that the second curiosity grips you and you turn Brony, I'm pulling the hypocrite card out with such force, it'll fly out of my hand and cut the jugular of the nearest person!

TL;DR:
SHUT THE F--- UP YOU ANTI-BRONIES!
This ain't how the thread is supposed to go!

I wait patiently for your flames and hatred, like the former 4chan goer that I am, "ROFL"..........
Well said sir, well said indeed.

My point: All refferring to MLP as a meme is doing is saying it is a part of social behaviour that people pass along (that is the definition of a meme in context to a T.V. show). Sow if this is why your hating on it for being (which seems to bee the reasoning of 1/2 of you) go get rid of all your X-boxes and PS3's, denounce any love of a game with a fanbase and GTFO of the internet too, you pompous hipster asses.

So does that count as anime loli and/or evil villain now? Oh my, thats going to be some hateception around here.

I don't have much bias on avatars, they ussaly help me remember some persons more then just the names.
It's normal to feel the need to punch anything justin bieber related, including avatars, right?

It kind of is how the thread is supposed to go really...

If people are biased against MLP avatars, then they're biased against MLP avatars, and it makes sense to state it on this thread. To be honest I'm quite glad about some of those comments, especially the ones that say they ignore posts by people with pony avatars. Someone who will completely ignore what a person has to say due to their choice in avatar is not the kind of person I want to be talking to anyway...

For a while I had a very slight bias against Zero Punctuation avatars, because it seemed to be a little overused (I realise how hypocritical this is due to my current avatar) and if you're on this site we know you like Zero Punctuation anyway. I never really let it affect my opinion on people's posts however, and the sheer hypocrisy of it has removed even the slight bias now.

Now I'm mostly OK with anyone, although it does get on my nerves when people have text too small to read. It happens a lot with de-motivational posters... if no-one can see the joke then what's the point?

Meh, I don't really bother with avatars. I'll read what someones posted, then look to the left and be all like "Ohey, it's that guy again." I like to think I'm not biased.

I wonder what people think when they come across my avatar?

The only kind that annoys me is people with no avatar.
And avatars with text that is too small to read.

I see avatars as what they are, just little pictures, sometimes they can be funny, a bit disturbing or represent the person behind it and they make it easier to remember specific people as it is easier to memorize images over thousands of names on internet forums.

And they wouldn't even get on my nerves if someone had a loli-pony riding the rainbow while slaughtering baby seals.

When i see a pony avatar my first thought is "that person is awesome".
The magnitude of the 'awesome' depending on the pony.

I also have favourable first impressions toward anime avatars - generally. I know my fair share of anime so depending on the anime I might make a judgement on how cool they are.
ie. a K-On avatar might make me go, oh ok...he watches anime, that's cool, I might be able to relate to them, but they're obviously into boring generic moe fluff. A Mushishi or Seto no Hanayome avatar on the other hand will probably make me instantly love that person.

Pokemon avatars earn all of my love.

Other miscellanious avatars with references I appreciate will also be favoured by me.

Other than that, I don't pay much attention.

I don't judge people based on their avatar's except to note people who possibly share similar interests to me. Be that D&D, certain works of fiction or movies, or whatevs.

Although this thread makes me want to change my avatar back to a pony! Srsly, all the pony hate is rather amusing.

90%~ of anime avatars and My Little Pony ones make me skip posts, even when interested in a thread and not just scanning through.

I'll also admit to a slight anti-pony-avatar bias. So many avatars on the same theme in the same colour palette - it's remarkably hard to tell users apart with them, which is one of the main functions of individual avatars in the first place.

Some animated avatars have a borderline hypnotic quality, which means I spend a lot of time looking at them, which consequently means I spend a lot of time looking at the posts of the people who use them, making me more likely to reply.
Whereas interesting and fairly original avatars catch my attention when just scanning through. Sorry to quote you as an example, but you fit the bill.
No need to apologise - I love being quoted as an example for this kind of thing! More attention!

Yeah, I think I, and a lot of people, subconsciously do. I mean, on a lot of sites, just having an avatar seems to make me more interested in what a person has to say (I know it's stupid, but these things often are). In fact, I deliberately made sure I had an avatar for this site in case other people felt this way. As for a KIND of avatar I like or dislike... well, I'm simple minded, so am drawn to colourful pictures and the like.

I generally tend to think less of posts attached to Pony, anime, or Zero Punctuation avatars. Not because I have any sort of dislike for any of those things (I like anime and Zero Punctuation, and I'm only "meh" about the Ponies), but because they're so common that it makes that person less recognizable (I'm a bit more likely to pay attention to the posts of people I know I've seen before) and it makes that person seem unimaginative, and in my mind, "unimaginative" = "nothing interesting to say."

Also, anyone who has no avatar and their post count is in the hundreds. How the hell do they not have avatars yet? That just seems like laziness.

I'm biased against threads about how we can claim to know a person's entire personality based on the 100x100 picture they choose to show on an internet forum.
yeah you can't know everything.
BUT how a person chooses to represent themselves says a lot about them.

Take mine, he's a little surly looking sure so you could infer grumpy/sarcastic (both which i can be)
further than that two more facts arise, he's a comics character (marvel, if you know the character then your likely as nerdy as me, and would probably point it out, as has been done) And you can infer certain things about me as a comics fan (more is true than i would wish.

The last is that i watch anime (it being a chibi style picture, an artform prevalent in anime) as such and you could probably guess that i have some knowledge and interest in the area from that.

Other avatar traits such as humor, trollishnes, or individual tastes can all be reasonably deduced from such information. If you don't like what people assume of you, then pick better, they exist for the purpose of differentiating yourself from other people (something all the pony avatars fail at and thus you become a hive mind)

OT i have a bias against the pony avatars because apart from one persons (the crocodile guy) they all look the same and as such its a pain figuring out who each respondee is. And that people who think the most interesting thing in their lives is that show worry me.
That's an impressive analytical skill there. However, you're you, so do mine to see if you can get that much detail.

OT: No, I don't tend to judge people on their avatars. Usually, I just use to quickly identify who someone is. As you said, though the pony ones get confusing.

I don`t really judge by avatars but anime avatars are a bit more eye catching than the live action gifs. live-action gifs kind of annoy. me

I'm biased against avatars that flaunt pointless aspects of a person's personality like their race of their sexuali...ty... *looks at own avatar* shut up!

Okay then I hate avatars that are screencaps from an Escapist show cropped to fit in the... oh god fucking damn it!

OK, serious time: The MLP ones do kind of bug me but i'm not going to ignore the person because of it. It just confuses the shit out of me why so many people are suddenly obsessing over a show that really isn't very good. Yes, I've seen some episodes. No, I wasn't impressed or amused.
