I missed most of Season 2 and everything after Season 2...So, time to add to Netflix and finish the series.
Or you could follow the link at the end of my review. It's a shame, you missed the best parts of the series (the Season 2 finale is brilliant).Onyx Oblivion said:I missed most of Season 2 and everything after Season 2...So, time to add to Netflix and finish the series.
More asian style. The animation was Korean if memory serves.Layzor said:Not for me thank you. I really don't enjoy any media in the japanese art style, I'm not sure why.
lol, benders.
As you should be. If you aren't watching it now I shall shoot you(preferably in the face but I'm not picky).MiracleOfSound said:Nice read there, I knew nothing about this show but now I'm interested!
I saw the first season as a setup season. It took a while but most of those bases were brought back to.Binerexis said:To everyone who may be on the fence in terms of watching it, you really need to give it a good chance. I caught it at around the mid-point of the second season and it was amazing, I couldn't get enough of it so I went out of my way to watch the first season which was just OK. Sadly, Avatar's first season goes through the required 'Gathering forces and learning things' stage of the story with little bits of character development but the second then proceeds quickly to the 'Kicking ass with MASSIVE character development' stage. Basically, it's a catch 22 between watching through the slightly predictable first season to get to the good bits later or skipping to the really awesome parts minus some key plot points. As someone who's seen and enjoyed the whole thing, I suggest sticking through the first season and stay with it.
Well it's terrible and I don't intend on supporting it in the theatres(sorry mods) but I'm going to steal the movie and watch it at home. Did you get a kick out of the only non white people being the ones trying to take over the world?cabalistics said:The show was amazing and epic but I'm worried about the ethnic whitewash that's happening in the movie where only the fire nation seems to be not white whereas in the show it seemed to basically break down as:
Water Tribe = Inuit Eskimos
Air Nomads = Tibetan
Earth Kingdom = China
Fire Nation = Imperial Japan
The whole live action cast look like they could be in a Nickleodeon sitcom or Disney tv movie
Usually because something animated looks good, but taking it to real life just makes you think "Why does he/she look so ugly?" This also applies to comic books in my opinion.ravensshade said:well live action movies of animated series always lack something in my opinion so i don't have high hopes for the movie.
Damn straight you should. MUSH MUSH!Onyx Oblivion said:I missed most of Season 2 and everything after Season 2...So, time to add to Netflix and finish the series.
Yeah, in my opinion, the second season, particularly thy finale, was the best.Asturiel said:OT: I bloody love this series with a vengeance, it was so brilliant and it had the bits of anticipation to it too, since I came in after the end of the first season. Second season was gold and the third season had filler in the beginning for obvious reasons but the ending was fantastic. I however disliked the very ending but that was to be blamed on the fact it was a kid's show, but for the rest of the series I could forgive that.
Leaves on the vineAlso in the Tales of Ba-Sing-Seh(Can't remember how to spell that) Irohs bit, it added so much to his character and if you didn't get teary at the end, then you are a robot and I will dismantle you soon.
Thanks. I feel that once I get the kinks ironed out, I'll do much better.Edit: Should probably comment on your review shouldn't I? Could use a little jazzing up, the more middle sized the paragraphs the sweeter, I read that mostly because I love talk of avatar, not something a distracted gamer with no knowledge of this would. Could use more reviewing, like saying how the things worked, broken down some key elements like, story, action, humour, drama. Stuff like that.
Good first shot thought!
Ethnic whitewashing? From what I've seen, only the Water Tribe has been "whitewashed" and, to someone who knows the standard relationship between skin colour and climate, it makes complete sense.cabalistics said:The show was amazing and epic but I'm worried about the ethnic whitewash that's happening in the movie where only the fire nation seems to be not white whereas in the show it seemed to basically break down as:

Heh, it got better. From what I understand, the actor originally slated to play Zuko was Jesse fucking McCartney. *shudder*Kimarous said:Ethnic whitewashing? Well, you can sort of see Appa in one of the trailers, and it's only covering book 1, so Toph wouldn't be there.Korten12 said:yeah im quite afraid of the movie also, from what I seen in the wikipedia page of the movie, it doesnt mention momo, toph, or appa. 0.0orannis62 said:Heh, it got better. You know, it's odd, I never even stopped to consider how Toph would work in a movie. I know she's not in it, but still.Korten12 said:oh... well thats a bit more reassuring.orannis62 said:Well, you can sort of see Appa in one of the trailers, and it's only covering book 1, so Toph wouldn't be there.Korten12 said:yeah im quite afraid of the movie also, from what I seen in the wikipedia page of the movie, it doesnt mention momo, toph, or appa. 0.0orannis62 said:Heh, it got better. So no Azula? No Combustion Man? No Long Feng? No Joo Dee? No Hama?orannis62 said:Well, you can sort of see Appa in one of the trailers, and it's only covering book 1, so Toph wouldn't be there.

Hey, look on the bright side. Besides main characters, we still have Roku, Pakku, Jet, Suki, June, Zhao...Lord Krunk said:So no Azula? No Combustion Man? No Long Feng? No Joo Dee? God this is going to suck! But I'm watching it anyway.
EDIT: And Morgan Freeman as Appa would be awesome. Christopher Walken should be Momo.
Bumi too. And Jeong Jeong, played by Doc Brown. YEEEEEESSSSSorannis62 said:Hey, look on the bright side. Besides main characters, we still have Roku, Pakku, Jet, Suki, June, Zhao...
But bloodbending. I mean, Waterbending up to 11? I will be disappointed if they don't do it, but not necessarily surprised.Besides, I can't see them putting Hama in one of these movies anyway. She was important to Katara's character development, but not really to the plot.
