I don't want to sound too "South Park", but to me, it's way too over-hyped. It seems corny and cliche, and without even seeing the movie, I noticed plot-holes (it's the future where they can transport a man into another living being. They have huge weight-lifting machines and are fighting aliens on a different planet... but they can't fix a crippled guys legs.) Now as i've stated before, i've yet to see the movie, so I'm sure there is some "future" explanation, like Polio-AIDS. James Cameron is an amazing director with billions of dollars worth of notches under his belt, so I doubt this movie will suck, but it's just reusing the same sci-fi elements is all.

Not at all.

James Cameron took his huge budget and remade Pochahontas with more lasers and white guilt.

I will go see Sherlock Holmes instead. Also as a side note, there is this guy at my schools whos second name is Holmes and when he says something obvious I take pride in saying No shit Sherlock:D

Although if someone asked me if I wanted to see Avatar I will go.

I'm not Psyched, because I hate that word.

I will go and see it however. I'll tell you how I feel then

The funny thing is, every time I explain the Terminator movies and Aliens to someone who's never heard of them (there's more than you think) they say 'sounds cliche and crap, won't be seeing that' and then when I show it to them, they get blown away. Never underestimate James Camerons ability to surprise you.
I understand what you're saying, but before watching Terminator/Aliens, a friend told me about them. All I could ever think to myself was "Wow, that sounds fucking AMAZING!".

I'm not too sure, part of me thinks it will be amazing but another part of me think it will be an abortion which would be a shame because James Cameron is a God. That said, being a God, he can do pretty goddamn incredibly stuff with relatively unorignal concepts.

I do think the way they're giving a lot away in their trailers suggests it might just suck, just a bit.

Dances With Wolves in space is my impression of it.

Edit: ninja'd by Khell, that's what I get for not reading the entire thread through.

I've been saying for a while now that this is going to be a steaming pile of shit, and something tells me I might be wrong.

Oi, that movie looks terrible. It looks like a mix between The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Wild Wild West, and that's not a good thing.

As for Avatar, it seems pretty formulaic, but I'll see it anyway.

Seems to be a good movie. The only reason I'm watching it though is because my little sister had no one to go with and I thought "What the heck, it seems interesting".

It seems to be good for the critics at least, with them giving it a 9 out of 10.

In short: Ripp-off bad story, sweet 3D special effects.

Still in doubt whether I'm going to see it or not.

This is Avatar as in the movie with blue humanoids, as apposed to the one with the white bald kid who is to learn the arts of bending Earth Wind and Fire! ... and water. Right?

As for that movie, I am not really a fan of that genre, so it won't be making money of me.

I might be checking it out once it becomes availeble for download though.

(Does this make me an evil person? 0=P )

Not really that psyched for it. Then again, very few movies have peaked my intrest these past couple of months so I wouldn't be surprised if I saw it and ended up liking.

Didnt see it, wont go anyway, but the trailers seem to scream "the cute, innocent, blue, primitive aliens" will open a can of Ewoks on the evil emp--military corporation and obviously win.
But hey, the evil corp could win. Would like to see that.

I'm looking forward to it. Gonna see it in Imax 3D next monday. I think it's gonna be good fun. Excellent revolutionary use of technology plus James Cameron knows how to make a good action movie. I'm down with it.
