Avatars as Self Photos

I don't know why but recently more and more I have been seeing avavtars as personal pictures. I was just wanting some insight as to why people are doing this.

On a related note, why do people post their opinions?

I have nothing against them really. My avatar's some pictures of Rorscach from Watchmen. Why not? I like Watchmen, and people have edited the pictures for me. If I wanted to put a picture of me as my avatar, I would. But I'm self-conscious so I won't.

Seriously, it does supprise me when people use their real photos, just because I expect everyone to use annomnymity to get away with more than they would face to face. I guess I'm just cynical.

I don't know why people would be so eager to show their face on an internet forum, maybe some people consider it more of a social networking site. I'd put mine up, but my guns wouldn't fit in the alotted space.

What I really don't like is the weird angle shots. Look, I'm looking away from the camera like I don't care but I really, really do! Or, I got my long hairs in my face, I'm a menace, I shall be feared!

Not sure, just seems like a good age. Old enough to be creepy, not too old where you could blame it on being senile. *shrugs*

Gone gonzo means I'm nuts pretty much. Because you have to be crazy to have a high post count. I preferred my last rank, 'Pulitzer Laureate'. Sounded much more sophisticated.
