25 year old girl right here. I'd say the average is probably around 22 judging from this post though that might not be too accurate.

17 here, but please don't associate "immature gamers" with people in their teenage years, I've met more immature people 20+ than I have immature people my own age.

Also you need more ponies. *throws my avatar at you*

I turned 21 this year, admittedly the time I turned 21 isn't important but I needed to make this post longer somehow. It was this or vaguely relevant philosophical musings on age.

After his last post I'm inclined to think he may be trolling, and if he isn't that's even worse. Either way, please don't respond. For what it's worth, you've certainly been acting much classier than he has.
Care to elaborate? im not above constructive criticism

At this moment I'm 23 years 8 months 18 days ago old. Oh wolframalpha, isn't there anything you can't compute?

(Yeah that was mostly filler for the low content thing. Gotta keep my record clean.)

Well there are plenty of age polls so a minor amount of math will get you the anwser, my guess is the average age comes in at about 16.

But the real issue here my friend is you need to master the fine art of tolerance, what you are doing with your mighty opinions is setting an example the younger audience will pick up on...
Oh, that's handy. I am sixteen! I am the average! Which may or may not affect how you perceive my next statement:

Along with tolerance, he also needs to master the art of not being a generalizing tool.
So... do you like ponies, cod and anime? of course not. what was i thinking, teenagers don't blindly follow trends to the extent that they become the generalisations I only happened to point out. How silly of me, consider the lesson learnt
That you basically called all gamers immature, generalized the whole site claiming it was full of snarky "CoD vs Halo" flamewars (possibly the one thing I've never seen here) and claiming those here who are teenagers are begging for help with homework came off as arrogant. It really sounded like you'd just skimmed a bunch of gamer websites and forums, then just applied the accrued stereotypes here.

Im 17 (Turning 18 tomorrow)

And it is 'Whether' not 'Weather'

EDIT: I agree about the ponies. Really annoys me.
Happy 18th man. (hope you live in a country that will let you celebrate properly} :)

OT: I am 17 turning 18 in may...

Personally I do not care how someone else acts. So I am fine with imiturity with a simple reply of "yes."
Same with ponies (minus the reply)

18 and kicking - oh, and the ponies drive me up the wall.

They're not cute, they're crappy cartoon drawings, and their stories are not for adults no matter how you try to justify it. That's not me being immature (because Spongebob still makes me laugh), that's me telling you guys it's time to man up and there are far, far better things to admire in this world that aren't ponies.

Such as science, technology, videogames & gadgets.

Or a combination of all of the above.
Here's a clip of an under-construction rendering technology we could be seeing in games in the near future. It does away with polygons for graphics and uses virtual atoms instead. There are 64 atoms/ 1mm^3, and they made a 1km^2 island:

I'm 18.

I'm not really sure about the average Escapist age. Seems like it's mid-teens to mid-20s, at least from my perspective.

20. I avoided the ponies until my German friend Niko showed me some episodes on YouTube (in English, thankfully, I cannot even imagine how dreadful the German dubs must sound).

Then I was lost.

1) I said that you have to be a little immature to be a gamer, which is a valid point fore some, me included, you see, games are filled with wimsey and extravagant adventures that appeal to your inner child. Was not intended as an insult.
2) For a start I said BF not halo. If you havnt seen the various posts about the pros/cons of cod over bf whizzing about lately, you might be spending to much time getting the wrong end of the stick on other threads.
3) The dictionary defines arrogance as perpetrating an offensive display of superiority or self-importance. I did not claim in any way that I was above teenagers asking for help, once again this was a statement not an insult.
4) In my experience stereotypes are largely true. It's quite interesting that you arrive at the old stereotype milestone when all I did was give a few examples similar to recent threads. Maybe your brain's trying to tell you something that you havn't considered yet, being a teenager and all

It's been at the back of my mind for a while, this particular issue involves the age of people that frequent this site.
While i'm aware that it takes a certain degree of immaturity to be a gamer, it seems to be in abundance here. Everywhere I turn there's the puffed out chests and bravado that comes with being a teenager with anonymity. Arguing weather cod is better than bf is the modern day equivalent of 'my dad can batter your dad,' not to mention half of the threads these days are from adolescents wanting help with their schoolwork, it seems to weedle its way into almost every thread.
Next and possibly the most sickening thing i've ever seen aside from 2G1C, is the whole ponies motif that seems to be eating my tolerence for this website like so many wasps drunkenly devouring rotting apples.

So, my question is this, how old is the average escapist?
Also, pls make the ponies go away
30 over here.

I must say my greatest joy on the Escapist are those 'Are you a Gamer' threads where people who weren't even born when I started gaming try to tell me I'm not a true 'Gamer'. But that comes back to the puffed out chest and bravado of the anonymous teenager you were talking about.

And no, I don't understand the pony thing either. Here in the UK MLP is a show for primary school girls; why 20-something blokes would profess a love for it is beyond me.
