Yeah military pays really well especially as an officer. Assuming after 2 years in and being an O2 you would make 4,149.00 a month plus depending on where you live you get a tax free housing allowance of 1281.00 a month (for something like Eglin AFB) So already with only 2 years in and basic rank your making 65K, plus a food allowance of 223.04 a month.(an extra 2600 a year) then you get flight pay for each hour you fly, if you married you get separation pay if your deployed. You get a great benefits package. And you can retire after 20 years with full benefits and pension. (so you would be about 42 years old when you got out, and you wouldn't have to work so you could spend a good 20 years traveling or whatever before the age most ppl retire at) And after that 20 years you would be making in todays dollars about 8-10 thousand a month (plus all your other benefits) depending on rank.Gman6789 said:80 - 100 grand you say?
I always thought the military pilots were paid like crap, but I stand corrected. I've got a 4.1 GPA (Adjusted for some honors classes, 4.0 unweighted) and am very good at sciences so I shouldn't have too many problems.
And my grandfather administers the ASVAB at highschools so he "unofficially" gave me one (still followed all the rules of the test) and I got an 81.
you need a 75 for the Air Force. An 81 means I am better than 81% of the people that take that test (All at least juniors)
Lol not trying to recruit you or anything its just an alternative to trying to work out a career in the airlines.
Also flying spots in the AF are competitive so really have to be exceptional, but if you play their game and do things like ROTC the OCS and the ensuing things should be pretty simple.
