This always pisses me off.

There's an awesome game, hard levels, and so-so storyline. then you finally get to the final boss and BAM! Congratulations, you just won!

Too easy boss battles have been the plauge of videogaming for some time, and i want you to share your thoughts about this.

NOTE: Not search bar approved but i know that there wasnt one in a while

OT: Dirge of Cerberus, Final Fantasy VII was the latest interaction that i have had with this horrible deed. Its like you know you're perfectly healthy but your mothere insists on shoving caster oil to the back of your throat

MW2 on veteran was a tad taxing, but the final level in the speedboat race was just so simple, and the thrown dagger virtually aimed itself.

Oblivion. You didn't even get to fight him, Martin did. I was disappointed. And that other guy wasn't much either as long as you didn't throw spells at him.

That turned me off that game perminetly. The last boss of the entire game took one shot to kill?! He didn't even try to fight back. Also darksiders last boss was quite easy. Took one go and only lost 1 health bar.

No matter what difficulty you played at, the last level you were ESCORTED by a giant robot with laser beam eyes and threw mini-nukes!
For God sake that isn't a last level, that would make a pretty decent first level, giving you your baby steps.

For me, It was Arkham Asylum. Killer Croc in particular, but to be honest, there was only one decent boss battle where you actually fought the boss.

Maybe that's why they destroyed him at the beginning of Broken Steel.

Mario Galaxy, Bowser was always the easiest boss to beat, even his son proved a bit more of a challenge than him.

Devil May Cry 4. The game itself was lacklustre overall having you re-trace the first half of the game in reverse from the half way point onwards, and the final boss was just the pre-final boss fought over again in the exact same manner. I already beat him once, why would I need to do this again? Far too easy. And even if you consider the Golem part the last boss that scene only takes one hit.

I'm not gonna name anyone - oh wait i will! Beating final boss in Borderlands was piss-easy. There, i contributed!

...

And now, for the actual thing i want to say. Nowadays, game is not merely a challenge to the player. Game also has to tell a story, and that's where the problem lies. Developers want to make sure the player goes through the final level in one uninterrupted charge all the way to and past the Ultimate Showdown Of The Ultimate Destiny, even if that's the first game he ever played. Getting killed in process can deal a significant blow to immersion in the story, especially if you get killed time after time. I guess that's why there is so little of proper final bosses nowadays. I guess.

No, i do not know how to fix it.

The final battle in GUN.

It was easy enough, and so totally divorced from the grittiness of the rest of the game.

"Alright, I'm fighting cowboys with a slow loading rifle, yeah, this is the old west."

"Wait a minute, I can't kill this guy with a rifle shot to the head, and he's carrying a gun they used to mount on ships? And I kill him by throwing his own dynamite back at him? And even that takes a while? WHAT?!"
To say I found this level unforgiving is selling it short. I haven't hated a final boss as much as GUN since Gears of War.

As to easy bosses, I think Mass Effect would definitely count. Saren was piss easy, especially if you had a high enough charisma to make him off himself SPOILER WARNING so you only had to fight him once.

I thought Bioshock's was fair enough However it grinds my gears when the game offers you the final powerups and that immediately before the final boss. It's like not getting your christmas presents until you're too tired to play with them

I'll take it I'm the only one who liked Fable IIs final boss. The game spends all its time building up just how evil and powerful this guy is, but the only reason he is like that is because of his knowledge, contacts and henchmen. Without it, he's just a normal guy and like a normal guy, he dies after 1 shot in the head. Much better then if they had done a Deus Ex Machina to making him uber-powerful and annoying.

And on that note, another vote for Bioshock.

I didn't really like that game in general, but I persisted to the end. So when I went for the boss fight I was hoping that it might redeem itself there. So you can imagine I was quite pissed off when I found the last boss to be the easiest boss in any game ever.

Final Fantasy X: enter battle, use Zombie Attack, sit back and file nails until bad guy kills self.

Coming off the back of killing Dark Aeons, it was pathetic.

I probably wouldn't have minded if Zombie Attack was some kind of uber bullshit skill I'd spent a million hours unlocking, (like in FF7, where you can one-shot Sephiroth with Knights of the Round, but at least you have to put work in to earn it), but it was just a standard, run of the mill thing. Bull-fucking-shit.
