What you said is correctpdgeorge said:Fallout 3
No matter what difficulty you played at, the last level you were ESCORTED by a giant robot with laser beam eyes and threw mini-nukes!
For God sake that isn't a last level, that would make a pretty decent first level, giving you your baby steps.
I also had this problem. After I got to Mount Gagazet I got everybody's ultimate weapons, overdrives etc then went to kill Seymours latest iteration and I killed him with 1 hit. Was so annoyed I restarted from my previous save so I could rotate everyone through to get the AP.Wutaiflea said:Final Fantasy X: enter battle, use Zombie Attack, sit back and file nails until bad guy kills self.
Coming off the back of kill Dark Aeons, it was pathetic.
I probably wouldn't have minded if Zombie Attack was some kind of uber bullshit skill I'd spent a million hours unlocking, (like in FF7, where you can one-shot Sephiroth with Knights of the Round, but at least you have to put work in to earn it), but it was just a standard, run of the mill thing. Bull-fucking-shit.
Yeah that got me too. He had a bullet proof forehead or something.Furburt said:The final battle in GUN.
It was easy enough, and so totally divorced from the grittiness of the rest of the game.
"Alright, I'm fighting cowboys with a slow loading rifle, yeah, this is the old west."
"Wait a minute, I can't kill this guy with a rifle shot to the head, and he's carrying a gun they used to mount on ships? And I kill him by throwing his own dynamite back at him? And even that takes a while? WHAT?!"
I cheated even harder and just unleashed Yojimbo when I couldn't be arsed.Wutaiflea said:Final Fantasy X: enter battle, use Zombie Attack, sit back and file nails until bad guy kills self.

Yeah, the ending was epic, but I don't think they wanted you to miss at that part. Also, if you do the wrong things on the boat, you get your ass kicked.Batfred said:MW2 on veteran was a tad taxing, but the final level in the speedboat race was just so simple, and the thrown dagger virtually aimed itself.
Maybe I got lucky then, because I did it first time - which is more than I can say about the plane graveyard and escaping from the hideout!Mrsnugglesworth said:Yeah, the ending was epic, but I don't think they wanted you to miss at that part. May be, but I died atleast 10 times on the boat thing before I realized that actually hiding from the helicopter wasn't what to do. Staying in the open right behind Sheperd the thing to do.Batfred said:Maybe I got lucky then, because I did it first time - which is more than I can say about the plane graveyard and escaping from the hideout!Mrsnugglesworth said:Yeah, the ending was epic, but I don't think they wanted you to miss at that part. Yeah, there are a few lazy ways of doing it, but the fact that you could kill him so easily with a standard attack was just... shat.Rafe said:I cheated even harder and just unleashed Yojimbo when I couldn't be arsed.Wutaiflea said:Final Fantasy X: enter battle, use Zombie Attack, sit back and file nails until bad guy kills self.

It took 5 shots from my over-powered shotgun...Zing said:Mass Effect for sure, it's a joke, I just sat their shooting at him for a few minutes swapping between my weapons and cooldowns, he barely did any damage, he managed to kill Garrus once cause the AI is crap and he has low armor.
That wouldn't explain why the regular levels are hard and you die a lot in them.Kollega said:I'm not gonna name anyone - oh wait i will! Beating final boss in Borderlands was piss-easy. There, i contributed!

And now, for the actual thing i want to say. Nowadays, game is not merely a challenge to the player. Game also has to tell a story, and that's where the problem lies. Developers want to make sure the player goes through the final level in one uninterrupted charge all the way to and past the Ultimate Showdown Of The Ultimate Destiny, even if that's the first game he ever played. Getting killed in process can deal a significant blow to immersion in the story, especially if you get killed time after time. I guess that's why there is so little of proper final bosses nowadays. I guess.
No, i do not know how to fix it.
I view that sort of ending as a pat of the credits. The level leading up to said robot-escort is the true final levelSoren91 said:Maybe that's why they destroyed him at the beginning of Broken Steel.pdgeorge said:Fallout 3
