Mass Effect for sure, it's a joke, I just sat their shooting at him for a few minutes swapping between my weapons and cooldowns, he barely did any damage, he managed to kill Garrus once cause the AI is crap and he has low armor.

The last boss of God Hand is stupidly easy once you figure him out. He's pretty much a cakewalk on every level except DIE. The only problem is his health bar is massive, so clear your schedule. The strongest move you have does maybe 1/10th of his health bar, and takes I think 3 orbs to use.

No matter what difficulty you played at, the last level you were ESCORTED by a giant robot with laser beam eyes and threw mini-nukes!
For God sake that isn't a last level, that would make a pretty decent first level, giving you your baby steps.
What you said is correct

Final Fantasy X: enter battle, use Zombie Attack, sit back and file nails until bad guy kills self.

Coming off the back of kill Dark Aeons, it was pathetic.

I probably wouldn't have minded if Zombie Attack was some kind of uber bullshit skill I'd spent a million hours unlocking, (like in FF7, where you can one-shot Sephiroth with Knights of the Round, but at least you have to put work in to earn it), but it was just a standard, run of the mill thing. Bull-fucking-shit.
I also had this problem. After I got to Mount Gagazet I got everybody's ultimate weapons, overdrives etc then went to kill Seymours latest iteration and I killed him with 1 hit. Was so annoyed I restarted from my previous save so I could rotate everyone through to get the AP.

The final battle in GUN.

It was easy enough, and so totally divorced from the grittiness of the rest of the game.

"Alright, I'm fighting cowboys with a slow loading rifle, yeah, this is the old west."

"Wait a minute, I can't kill this guy with a rifle shot to the head, and he's carrying a gun they used to mount on ships? And I kill him by throwing his own dynamite back at him? And even that takes a while? WHAT?!"
Yeah that got me too. He had a bullet proof forehead or something.

An easy final boss would have to be the final Boss(Gannon) from all 3D Zelda games. Darksiders seems to be a bit too easy too, I killed the big bad boss worm just by shooting it a bit.

Twilight Princess and Metal Gear Solid, especially the former. The boss battles were waaaay too easy.

I cheated even harder and just unleashed Yojimbo when I couldn't be arsed.

I've said it once and I'll say it again:

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time had the most pitiful excuse for a final boss in any game I've ever played.

Seriously, Ganondorf is supposed to be the epidamy of all evil. He's the ultimate form of pure hatred and everything wrong with the world, yet I beat him without getting hit once.

Fucking Bullshit

Okay, this may sound weird, but I;m opting for Demon's Souls here. Specifically, the Dragon God Boss fight.
Of all the commercials that got me hyped, it was the one with the Dragon God that really made me want to play it.
Then, after playing the first little bit, I notice how the bosses generally get harder and harder. So after managing to somehow survive Flame Lurker(without magic) and learning the Dragon God was next, I sorta shit myself. 20 levels later when I finally worked up the courage to take him on.......I felt like I was just rick-rolled by some dick game developer. i mean, really? 2hits? 2-fucking hits and he's down for the count? If nothing else, Demon's Souls managed to piss me off as it always had, though in the exact opposite way...

MW2 on veteran was a tad taxing, but the final level in the speedboat race was just so simple, and the thrown dagger virtually aimed itself.
Yeah, the ending was epic, but I don't think they wanted you to miss at that part. Also, if you do the wrong things on the boat, you get your ass kicked.

The final boss of Metroid Prime 3 seemed rather easy compared to some of the other bosses...I managed to beat it/her on the first try without using a guide...something I was unable to do with the previous games.

Maybe I got lucky then, because I did it first time - which is more than I can say about the plane graveyard and escaping from the hideout!

May be, but I died atleast 10 times on the boat thing before I realized that actually hiding from the helicopter wasn't what to do. Staying in the open right behind Sheperd the thing to do.

And I thought logic was supposed to come into play.

Yeah, there are a few lazy ways of doing it, but the fact that you could kill him so easily with a standard attack was just... shat.

Conker's Bad Fur Day. Ending was pretty fucked up, but it's still one of my favourite games.

Probably the final boss to borderlands, it was hardish but me and my friend just camped a pillar with our ammo being regenerated by his sentry. And after we beat the final boss, made sure the tirant person got killed, killed hundreds of fully trained mercenary soldiers and aliens, climbing a mountain, and and finding the vault, looking at it in triumph awaiting the gold, fame, and alien tech that we were promised and we got................a random jumble of weapons that aren't even remotely as good as the weapons we already have............I had to yell at my friend over the live mike to keep him from cutting...................ok that was a joke.

It took 5 shots from my over-powered shotgun...
That was on my 4th play-through, so I wasn't really disappointed. I was actually quite happy.

All the games that I had thought of have been said in already. Fable 2, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Twilight Princess...

I'm not gonna name anyone - oh wait i will! Beating final boss in Borderlands was piss-easy. There, i contributed!

...

And now, for the actual thing i want to say. Nowadays, game is not merely a challenge to the player. Game also has to tell a story, and that's where the problem lies. Developers want to make sure the player goes through the final level in one uninterrupted charge all the way to and past the Ultimate Showdown Of The Ultimate Destiny, even if that's the first game he ever played. Getting killed in process can deal a significant blow to immersion in the story, especially if you get killed time after time. I guess that's why there is so little of proper final bosses nowadays. I guess.

No, i do not know how to fix it.
That wouldn't explain why the regular levels are hard and you die a lot in them.

Maybe that's why they destroyed him at the beginning of Broken Steel.
I view that sort of ending as a pat of the credits. The level leading up to said robot-escort is the true final level
