Give the kid a manly name....to the point where just the sheer utterance of his name will shake the walls. Name the kid Maximus Decimus. But follow George Carlin's guidelines....No Todd's,Tyler's, Jordan's or tuckers.

Whatever you do, don't name the kid Jack Daniel. I knew a young boy with that name. Apparently, he was named after the reason for his conception (Jack Daniels). He lived two houses down the street from me; one of my sisters used to be his babysitter. She later commented that his parents were a pair of jerks.

My vote has to go for Kai, I've always liked that, although Tobias is also a pretty good shout. Daniel isn't particularly left-field, I must say, unless it's dying out in the US? Must credit you for even considering Gideon...

I may be biased about the last name, but I maintain that the most perfect, unstoppable name ever given to a child you would hope never to fail in anything is Akira American Creed.

Sadly, it doesn't work as well with any other combination, so you may have to change your last name. On the plus side, it's gender neutral.

No. NO NO NO NO NO. None of these will do. Either Megatron, Optimus Prime, Captain Planet, Princess Peach(for a girl but I guess a boy will do as well although a bit awkward), Zeratul, Ocelot, Ryu, Snake, and finally Immabigturnonletsdothedirty.

Congratulations!

I had a hard time choosing baby names. My wife would throw several out, and it was hard to find ones I really liked. It seems like everytime she would find one I liked, she would end up not liking it or want to change it later. We ended up waiting until a few months before the birth to finally settle on one. :D

It looks like you have plenty of name suggestions, so here are a few I (jokingly) wanted to use that my wife rejected:

Gunter (if only he would speak with a German accent too...)
OrOrk
Ooter
Nine Ninety Nine

TWINS:
Pop and Fizz (I imagine two cute little girls about 5, "Hi I'm Pop!" "and I'm Fizz!"), but my wife says these are probably stripper names so...

I've always wanted to name my kids after amino acids, most of which work better for girls, but here's a couple of ideas free of charge.

Threonine (Threo for short - try to imagine Bill Cosby calling him)
Argenine (can go by Argie)
Valine
Alanine
Tyrosine (or Ty)

Hope this helps, and I assure you that your son will not hate you forever if you choose one of these.
Don't forget methionine and Lysine....lol :)

Tobias is an awesome name, i have a friend with that very title. While more uncommon names are very poetic, they do genuinely become stale very fast.
Whenever I hear the name Tobias all I can think of is Arrested Development.

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of any of these names, but, it's your kid. Anyway...

If I had A boy, I'd name him Stephen, not Steven, as that is a cruel bastardization of the name. Or, I would name him Reginald.

OP is having a boy, and Lysine is a girl's name. I'm not sure whether Methionine is boys or girls, though.

If your last name is Johnson then name him Avery xD
But seriously, I'd recommend either Rhys or Cobi (both are good friends of mine). But if your son ever has a band teacher it might be bad to name him Dorian, all the comments about the 'Dorian scales'. But for a middle name Tobias might work, que the nickname: Cobi Tobi. But i think Cobi Tobias connects well somewhat with similar sounding phrases. But keep in mind the name should fit well with your last name, whatever it may be but thats what i think anyway.
Another name that could work is Bryson

Eugene Humpscouches.
In all seriousness name your child Eteocles, its from the play "Anitgone"

You could name him Geoff (pronounced "Jeff") i always liked that name. One of my friends is named Zander, very cool as well.

Just hit the motherload: Name him Sloan. That name is awesome on so many levels.
