Freakazoid! - This was a great show. Insane, silly and a great contrast to the 'serious' superhero shows, much like The Tick was. Plus, the theme song was so catchy I didn't care it gave away the entire plot. It was just that catchy. I absolutely loved Freakazoid. Especially...INVIIIIIISIBOOOOOOOOOOO! Now I got that song stuck in my head!
Animaniacs - Ah, Animaniacs. A show so funny that even its double entendres made it past the Warner Bros. censor board. Example.
Pilgrim: Give me the bird!
Yakko: We'd love to, really, but the FOX censors wouldn't allow it.
See? Animaniacs is really the show that not only channeled the spark of the Looney Tunes, they could be considered unofficial Looney Tunes in themselves.
Batman: The Animated Series - This is the one that changed everything. It had the gothic, gritty storylines that Batman was famous for but still keeping the stories interesting and the characters interesting. And of course, we got introduced to the Joker's right-hand girl, Harley Quinn. Ah, Harley, you're too good for him...oh, uh, and of course, this was the show that really introduced us to the Batman the comic book fans are proud of. It had everything, all the storylines, the great characters, the gothic mood and the great atmosphere. It even had a bit of the camp value from the 60s show and the dark, brooding seriousness of the Tim Burton movies.
Glory to Batman: The Animated Series!
