You're proably gonna get a lot of Half-Life,Portal, and Knights of the Old Republic (Or a final fantasy game) but I'm gonna go ahead and say Batman:Arkham Asylum. It's just a great game and I enjoyed it a lot.

I generally agree with most games suggested here but I want to add a special nod of appreciation for Cortex Command. I don't hear nearly enough people mention that game.

For my own submission: Toribash. It's a physics based, turn based, fighting game that features full dismemberment.

You heard right. It also has probably the steepest learning curve ever.

I'm going to add in more recommendations for Homeworld 2 and the Myst series.

If someone is even remotely into strategy gaming, then they should find a game made by Paradox. (My personal favourite is Crusader Kings, but that's just me.)
