For those of you don't know, 'Bender' is slang for Homosexual in Britain...
I thought it was Slang for a night of binge drinking and generally making an ass of yourself?

OT: MOBAs.

While I avoid LoL like the plague, I found a much simpler 2D one called "Awesomenauts" to be good fun.
I can now understand the appeal of such games.
Bender means both, the separate meanings will naturally change in context. English people have the best slang ain't that roight guv'na?

OT: Avatar: Legend of Korra, surprisingly. My friend who has the fucking worse taste in fiction ever recommended it to me and naturally I avoided it like the plague. It's actually rather good.

Also Spec Ops: The Line. I was so burned out on shooters the moment Halo 4 came out, I stopped playing them entirely for the rest of that year and more in favour of playing more fucking League. I heard it was good but I was really expecting nothing good and fuck everyone needs to play it. It's pure brilliance.

Adventure Time
Didn't like the art style at first glance. A friend only had to make me watch one episode to get me to realise it's about as good as cartoons get.

Movies starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
A childish bias, caused by Titanic. That was smashed when I watched The Departed.

I tried watching it, but I am bored so far in the 7th episode. It seems very... tame and meh so far. The characters are interesting, but nothing interesting is happening yet. Does the show get better from here on out?
In the second season and onwards, Toph provides the much needed snark Sokka couldn't provide. She's my fave character, TBH.

On-Topic: Well, I grew up loving the Spyro series, and I felt Insomniac was betraying the franchise (I was a stupid kid back then) by not creating MOAR. Well, it dampened my impressions of the Ratchet & Clank series. But after finishing Sly Cooper and finding myself in dire need of an adventure-platforming fix, I gave Going Commando a shot.

And boy was it fun. Now I'm searching for a copy of Up Your Arsenal.

Right now I'm dismissing Attack on Titan so very hard. I watched the first episode, didn't like the main character, didn't like the premise, and it made my macrophilia hurt (why couldn't the titans be pretty? lol)
I keep getting told it gets better, and people seem to think that showing me the "Potato girl" scenes will make me instantly like it.
Who knows, maybe after a while and the raging hype machine for it slows down, then I'll give it a second try, but for now, I'm just going to watch more Hunter x Hunter

I am almost ashamed to admit that I initially dismissed Sherlock as I couldn't really see how Sherlock Holmes would translate into a modern day setting, but a friend of mine at university made me sit down and watch it with her one Sunday afternoon when we didn't have anything to do and I was hooked by about halfway through A study in pink, and can't wait for the third series to start. Definitely one of the best things on TV.

When nick's series Wolverine And The X-Men came out, I dismissed it as pablum. I assumed it was another attempt to pander to the inexplicable popularity of Wolverine and figured it was business as usual but with Wolverine in the lead rather than other more established "leader" types like Cyclops or Storm.

Eventually it showed up on Netflix so I gave it a chance and boy was I surprised. It was good. Maybe even great. And I felt like a douche for not supporting it with ratings when there was a chance because it seems to have only been one season. And the progression of Logan to the lead role was natural and interesting (unlike the movies) which I really wasn't expecting.

You, my friend, will not be disappointed. Jak III and Ratchet and Clank 3 are two of my favorite games on the PS2, and perhaps the best third installments of trilogies I've seen. Keep looking.

A broken clock is right twice a day. Approaching the Avatar world from a fresh angle with a different protagonist was the best way they could continue working with the IP, and Korra does not disappoint.

OT: I've had a few of these, but I'd have to say that Red vs. Blue stands out the most.
I mean, sure, they've got like 200 episodes and counting, most of which take place in the middle of a box canyon, but it's a brilliant comedic venture that's been faithfully deconstructing Halo Multiplayer (and later, building their own world with the pieces) since day one. Great characters, good jokes, excellent direction.

And here I thought it was just an overhyped machinima series just like the other 95 percent of them. It occurs to me there's a reason that people keep trying with the whole "machinima" thing, and that's because Red vs. Blue was the original trailblazer in the concept. As far as web video series go, I'd give them a solid eight out of ten.

I dismissed Supernatural for ages purely because lots of people I know were going batshit crazy over it all the time.

Eventually, I was convinced to put aside my prejudices and just try watching an episode (or two). I now see why people like it so much. 8D

Shogun 2 Total War.

Now I can't stop playing it and I really, really want Fall of The Samurai.

GODDAMIT, 2012 ME! WHY COULDN'T YOU BUY THE ENTIRE SHOGUN 2.

What annoys me too is that a lot of the cavalry heroes that make the top tier stables a viable investment are sold off as DLC, as are the Hattori clan, who are really fucking awesome.

DAMMIT SEGA.

My little sister got me to start watching supernatural and I've enjoyed it so far. I don't generally listen to her much because she's absolutely crazy, but she seems to have a fairly good idea about tv shows. XD

Maybe after this, I'll actually listen to her about Dr. Who.

You may like Dota2 better than LoL?

Although the central mechanics are mostly identical, the different balancing strategies make the games play differently.

I brushed aside Minecraft because "mneh".

Now I don't play it because I don't have time. D:

Initially dismissed Harry Potter as tweenie crap, as I was annoyed by its surging popularity. Eventually read it and found it delightful and whimsical.

Initially dismissed The Wire as a dull looking police procedural. Do we really need another one? I asked aloud. Then eventually watched it and found it the best show ever made.

Initially dismissed Azumanga Daioh as routine anime piffle and left it sitting unwatched for several years despite a glowing recommendation. Eventually watched it almost by accident and it swiftly became one of my favorite series of all time.

Initially dismissed The Witcher series due to the protagonist looking like a death metal Edgar Winter, eventually discovered the 2nd game was amongst my favorite RPGs of the decade.

Most recently dismissed Hearthstone as a lame, pointless Magic knockoff. Now I am slobbering for a beta key.
I dismissed and still dismiss Harry Potter as a read not worth my time, but have found memories of using it as a bedtime read for a kid I used to hang around with.

You don't dismiss The Wire... NEVER!

Azumanga Daioh, mheee, it's a well done manga but 4 panels are not my thing. Never watched the anime, might like it better.

Tried the first Witcher due my obsession of WRPGS... and I loved it for 20 mins, then hated it and left it halfway.

Hearthstone? No thanks... I have car payments to make, dishes to wash and girls to woo. I love Blizzard and wish them the best, but playing their games? Not even once.

OT: What comes to mind right now is One Piece. It is one of the greatest shonens ever made and took me too long to get myself to start reading it.

Nah, don't want to map half my keyboard to Hotkeys for like a dozen different attacks.
Awesomenauts keeps things simple, no massive interface, no huge array of attacks, just pick a dude and go. :p

That is quite unlikely, community is a bit better but rules are looser (which ends up in you needing a harder skin to deal with it, but also more of a chance of making friends). But he said he liked a "much simpler" MOBA game, if anything DotA is much more complicated, can't see any reason to recommend it to him.

On the other hand he might like Rise of the Immortals (simpler than LoL and still an ARTS) or Smite or SMNC.

Yep... as expected, you only need about 5 keys to play LoL effectively at a basic level, will need at least 7 or 8 for DotA...

If you liked the feeling tough and like third person shooters, go get Super Monday Night Combat (SMNC). It's very close to awesomenauts but more beefy and changing the perspective.

I completely ignored The Sopranos, it was airing on our local television for years with a shitty voice over and it seemed like a boring family drama, then one summer i was bored out of my mind and tried watching it in english, i fell in love.

If you liked awesoemnauts you might want to keep an eye out for strife, it very much aims to be less competitive and esports focused than Dota or lol.

Dota-esque games, I played a very early version of Dota in wc3 and didn't really believe it could work I as a full game but around Christmas last year my friend gave me a Dota 2 key and taught me to not suck completely

I'll see, just I have a low end laptop and shit internet, hence why I'm playing something that is basically a flash game.

The World End with You. I intitially thought it would be under-average anime bullshit with a story so complex and ambitious and it tripped up on itself and fucked everything up..

I was soo wrong. I deeply enjoyed the game and, although the story was actually quite simple (here's a guy and he's dead and you play a game to not be dead) it was good. And the soundtrack. Only problem I have with the game is that all of the characters, if they were to breath in deeply, would probably have a multiple organ failure tdue to constrictive lasseration from their skin. They're all anorexic, maybe excluding one and a few shopkeepers, and it gets ridiculous.

I tried to watch Breaking Bad and the Walking Dead but I can't get into either of them. Now, I did finally start watching Game of Thrones and I blew through the first 3 seasons in less than a week!
