Has anyone else had an amazing teacher in their time at school? I had an awesome teacher,Mr.Abbott last year. Hes favourite game was assassins creed, portal and fallout 3. He would often make video game jokes and make references to great films and games. He would also let us watch youtube vids at the end of our lessons. So has anyone else had a great teacher?

My English teacher, he was a l.a.r.p.er and table top rts player who rode a Harley and looked like he came straight out of the marine corp. He always had a serious look on his face but what he said was always a smart remark

One of my physics teachers throughout my time at school looked exactly Father Christmas, minus the red suit.

Also, his enthusiasm for the subject and teaching in general was unparalleled - the guy organised annual trips to the US for a 3 day science conference, with about a week extra spent looking at universities in the area and generally having some fun. He's the main reason I chose to study physics at university.

I had a history teacher by the name of Mr. Paul. We transcended the student/teacher relationship and are still friends after graduation. HISTORY NERDS FTW!

I've had a teacher who threw with blackboard brushes and most of the time hit, a teacher who you could basically call anything but small (she was only 5 foot or something), a teacher who could make really inappropriate quips and who wasn't afraid to embaress someone totally in front of the entire class, but my favorite one is still my English teacher from the 3 year in high school. Both of them actually, we drove the first one so crazy that he said he left because they needed him on a different location, but left because he hated us. His replacement was even more fun. Every time he turned around to write something down on the board, all sorts of stuff would fly through the air, because it was everyone vs. everyone. Up to the point where we threw batteries, because they were nice and hard, but you could still carry them around without getting noticed. And still, he'd show us Weird Al video clips at the end of the lesson and let us leave ten minutes before the end. Awesome year.

Mr. Jackson, my Texas History teacher in middle school. He was just a fun-loving guy, and he could tell great stories about weird stuff. I always looked forward to his Texas history questions where he'd tell awesome stories about little known facts like the origin of the town of Mobeetie, Texas. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobeetie]

He was a great guy, and the only Teacher I've ever actually given a birthday present to. I was lucky enough to be his student the year he turned 50, so the jokes never stopped. It's a shame we moved a year later so my sister never got to be his student.

I had two teachers who knew that if I failed one exam, I had to repeat my last year of high school again, so they got a hold of the questions that were going to appear on the test, and gave them to me.
I also had a teacher who would share his cigarettes with us during a class outside of school. Of course, smoking it's an unnecesary activity which leads to a lot of horrible diseases, but when I was a dumb 16 years old I didn't care about killing my lungs slowly. Best thing though? he didn't taught anything during that hour. What did he taught? pre-military, the most useless class I ever had in my life. I mean, the last time we were at war was two centuries ago, and it was a CIVIL war.

You're latter two examples seem more like you're describing classes that you liked, not specific teachers.

O.T: MY favourite teacher, though all of mine have been fairly good, would be my 3rd/4th high school math teacher. She's both very relaxed and easy to talk to, while at the same time actually teaching us.

Disagreed, and here's why: What I failed to mention is that the class wasn't that close, I mean we had fun and all, but it was only those two specific teachers who made it possible for us to have so much fun. They simply allowed too much.

One of my English teachers would always play jimi hendrix and bob marley in class and he had a bunch of really cool jerry garcia posters and tapestries in his room

One of my maths teachers was a huge Valve/Bioware fanboy, and spent about 10 minutes every lesson talking about the latest updates to Portal or what would be in Mass Effect 2. It was great because he was teaching a complementary maths course for all the computing pupils, and there were only three of us.

Also, my tutor was a great person. There was nothing in particular about him, but he was a friendly, experienced teacher who seemed to understand how to interact with pupils.

Well, my physics teacher in secondary school always showed us funny videos at the end of class.

My current physics teacher constantly teaches through deliberately bad jokes that are so awkward you can't help but laugh.

My electronics teacher started a lesson about power by playing the Power Rangers theme song off the computer.

And my Philosophy teacher plays games, respected my choice of a game for an art presentation, and I find it amusing to have a philosophy teacher be an Evangelion fan.

One of my old RS teachers was pretty cool, relaxed and had a habit of going off on one about his kittens. He also had a good sense of humour about religion and the school in general.

Another one of my old rs teachers was a woman who travelled alot and was quite old. She was calm and easy to talk if you had any problems, as well as being a very understanding person.

Finally my Media teacher. I didn't get along with him at first, in fact much of my class didn't because of an after hours classs on a friday. However again he had a sense of humour, actually managed his lessons were interesting and he gave us all some sound advice.

My secondary school had a P.E teacher by the name of Mr Allen who sometimes turned up in an Ali G tracksuit & hat on his bike. When he wasn't on his bike he came in a car with the license plate JG GONAD.

He was always a great laugh and took the piss out of everyone in turn. I don't think a single person in the school disliked him.

One that was awesome in his own way was an English teacher I had called Mr Patterson. He didn't care much about homework and was partial to the occasional profanity-laden rant whilst retaining his usual laid back demeanor. We were supposed to have him for a second year but sadly he passed away in the summer.
