So you've just finished a series/book/movie/video game/whatever that was simply amazing. The characters were likeable, the plot was masterfully executed, the work as a whole was just thoroughly enjoyable. So you're sitting there, admiring the skill of those who crafted such a masterpiece, revelling in the powerful emotional responses it evoked within you (yes, even the more negative ones too)...and then it hits you. It's over.
Awesomeness withdrawal [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AwesomenessWithdrawal], a cocktail known as bittersweet. Maybe you can't explain how you felt or why, perhaps it made a lasting impression or broadened your views. You may love it and hate it at the same time with no logical reason why, do you justify running the chance to ruin such a good ending with a sequel that may not live up to its predecessor or recapture the moment?

So everyone, care to elaborate on your moments of elation & devastation? What was it you were watching, reading or playing to cause such a reaction? Why?

I always feel kind of sad when I finish a good book series or anime. I think it's because I hate good stories to end...

I've been watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel on Netflix over the last week.

Now everything pales in comparison. I've even stopped playing games.

From what I'd heard, I should have been disappointed with Angel, apparently.
I actually like Angel a little bit more than Buffy. Less of the romance shit. It's still there, just less of it.

So, the awesomeness withdrawal kicked in after Angel.

Mogworld is a recent example. Maybe not the best written book of all time, but certainly among the funniest. I immediately mourned finishing it.

Every time a good TV series ends. Mostly because there are so few good TV series. God knows what I'll do when Misfits ends...

I cried when I finished Mostly Harmless because I knew there was no more left.

Except apparently there is because some guy wrote another, but fuck that shit.

I loved watching FullMetal Alchemist:Brotherhood so much, I was almost sad to see it come to an end but the plot worked out so well that I wouldn't want it to go on any longer.

Finishing reading Scott Pilgrim. I was just immensely attached to the characters.
Also goes for Azumanga Daioh.

This mainly happens with anime, sometimes with books, hardly ever with movies.

I rewatch or reread the anime or books I like, and then I move on.

PRobably when I got up to the latest episode of One Piece. You start with 470 episodes and think its never going to end, that there will always be more episodes, then it ends, and things just dont make sense anymore.

I've discussed this so many times in other threads lately (this thread isn't a copy thread, it's just that my posts turned onto this)

So I'll just list them now, instead of explaining them all again

TriGun (anime and manga)
Love Hina (the manga)
Harry Potter (the books only)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Avatar the Last Airbender
Kim Possible
Toy Story
Lethal Weapon

And I predict it will happen soon with the following webcomics:

Something Positive
MegaTokyo
Questionable Content
Striptease

When The Walking Dead ended, I had a major case of this.

Also when I finished Metro 2033 (all 3 times), but it shall be no more, as I just purchased it on the computer as well!
