Duel Blasters 3000 [http://auntiepixelante.com/?p=385] comes to mind.

the players are pink-jumpsuited space femmes riding rocket phalluses. the rockets shoot lasers, which the players aim at pucks in an attempt to knock them, table hockey-style, into each others goal. (sometimes pulp sex monsters show up to scatter panties across the playfield.)
So yeah it's kinda NSFW, but it's a fun freeware game with nice competitive multiplayer, and a hidden single player game that's hilarious.
Interesting. This game give me a strange vibe of other game I played:

Not a great game to put in my list, but you get the idea.

Ronin Blade/Soul of the Samurai.

An old PS1 action game set in feudal japan where you play as either a ronin or ninja trying to uncover the mystery surrounding that invo.........

Y'know what? Just listen to the soundtrack. It's got a fantastic soundtrack and I'm too tired to explain the game ^_^

One of my favourite games these days that's pretty unknown is Saya no Uta. Well, it was probably more unknown before Extra Credits mentioned it a few weeks ago in an episode of theirs...

It's a fantastic visual novel, which has been called "the single most f***ed-up thing you'll ever play." It definitely earns that title, as it's dark, gritty and genuinely disturbing, but it tells a fascinating story, and uses the violence, sex scenes (so definitely NSFW) and disturbing imagery to get across a brilliant story.
I played it a few years back, and was so impressed when Extra Credits mentioned it, that I played it again to see what I'd forgotten.
I recommend it to whoever I can, but be warned: the amount of disquieting material in it isn't for everybody.

Edit: Just checked through the lists that were posted at the start and noticed that Saya no Uta was on it :D.
I've played ~4 games on that list, which I think is pretty good :p

Pax Imerpia: Eminent Domain.

Really old, really fun RTS set in space for the PC. Gotta build up a fleet, keep researching new technology (of which there is a LOT in terms of buildings and ship technology), explore a randomly generated galaxy, fight or make peace with the other races, colonize new worlds...REALLY fun stuff.

Edit: Also should mention that one of the best parts is that you get to pick your species from like, 8 different ones or you can customize one of your own. Some excel in military, others in science, there's a race of bug people who's biggest perk is that they colonize any planet, be it with a toxic atmosphere, huge temperature extremes, or a total vacuum.
Sound really good. The game is availiable somewhere to play it?
It really is pretty fun if you like large-scale RTS's, because this one can be as massive as you want to make it (you can make your randomly generated galaxy contain up to 99 star systems and have like, 16 factions per game, I forget the exact number for the factions, but it's pretty decent). Like I said, though, the game is really, REALLY old. I just did a quick check and it's not even on Good Old Games. I haven't checked Steam but somehow I doubt it'd be there either. At this point I'd say hit up eBay or Amazon and try your luck there.

If you don't mind I'll quote myself from one month ago for this blurb of my unknown game of choice, Hydra Castle Labyrinth.
It's my favorite unknown game and I know if I wrote another blurb about it I'd just end up gushing over it again and get nowhere.

Obscure? Ok, how's a Japanese indie game for pc with only a fan translation.

Meet Hydra Castle Labyrinth
I can pretty much described it as the original Zelda game mixed with the classic metroidvania style.
It does everything so perfectly with tight controls, fun bosses, interesting items and the least aggravating loop song you'll every hear.
If anyone does try this after hearing about it I can give you one suggestion, make your own map because it will triple your fun and make finding items so much more rewarding. I was lost for awhile and ended up looking up what to do first but once I figured that out I started making my own map and it just got so much fun!
Look it up, download it, play it, it's free!
I consider this games sound track to be one of the most well crafted sets I've heard, even when held against the likes of Klonoa, Gravity Rush and Bastion, my favorites. Just listen.
My favorite track.

In my honest opinion it's a must play.

Which games did you played?
Just A Closed World and Don't Look Back. I suppose the fact that they're both free flash games takes away whatever hipster bragging rights I might have earned.

Edit: I suppose I ought to add something to this thread. Ooh, I know, how about I Miss the Sunrise. Interesting freeware sci-fi rpg with a lot of interesting ideas. I haven't played enough of it to really have an opinion, but it seems to have a lot of potential.

At first I thought it is a Spacephip shooter, but I was very wrong it seems.
Thank you for your suggestion.

I would recommend checking out the Japanese indie RPG Off. If you ever wondered what would happen if David Lynch was Japanese and decided to make Eraserhead a JRPG instead of a film... This is pretty much what would happen. Would also recommend the LaLaLand games. Short and insane, each provides a nice amount of bite-size indie craziness. :p Oh, and Imscared, as well. One of the best first-person indie horror games I have yet played. Will stay with you a while that.

Oh, and... Bubsy 3D: Bubsy visits the James Turrell Retrospective. Because you need it in your life.

Probably one of my favorite games of all time. It's a bizarre French (there's an English version out) RPG that has some incredible characters and a crazy-ass story. It's roughly about a character only know as 'The Batter' who has been sent to purify the 4 zones of the world. You'll meet some weird characters along the way, like talking cats that erupt giant evil birds from their stomachs and shy workers who seem to explode with any human contact. All the oceans are made from molten plastic and metal is the first element; and extracted from cows stomachs.
It's also free to download!

Probably. I assumed it was japanese because most games like that tend to be from japanese developers (also, japanese culture's love of baseball), but french would make sense too.

EDIT: And anyways, everyone knows smoke is the first element! I mean, what else would we breath without it? Jeez...

Here's the best I have to offer of great games that aren't well known, and have received little or no attention on this messageboard:

Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden. Don't let the title fool you, this is not a sports game. It's a wonderful JRPG-style comedy.

Realm of the Mad God. The hypnotic nature of this game is amazing, and death is much more painful and more pleasurable than it is in Dark Souls.

Avadon 2: The Corruption - this is more well known as it's the latest in a long-running series of indie RPGs. It's the best game in the series.

Hammerwatch - it's a shame that this Gauntlet-style action RPG is little known.

Evoland - very fun and funny.

Bloons TD5
Kingdom Rush
Gemcraft: Labyrinth
Cursed Treasure (and the two sequels) - these free games are the best tower defense games ever made

Elephant Quest - a lot of love went into making this.

Burrito Bison Revenge

Fancy Pants Adventure - wonderful platformer

The 'Carnivores' series of hunting games. I don't believe that these are unheard of games, they had multiple sequels but I never hear anyone talk about them. That game was a simple kill dinosaurs, get trophies and points, unlock cooler weapons and dinosaurs. But dear god the sheer pant wetting terror of hearing a large carnivore roar in the distance as you scurry your now soaked pants to high ground praying the *thud* *thud* *thud* of footsteps didn't get louder.

The dinosaurs are now horribly inaccurate, but it was a heart pounding game none-the-less. They also had a sequel Carnivores 2, and another "Carnivores Ice Age". I'd like to know if any of you all had played it, I find there are so few I can share stories of it with.

...aaand I've just realised like 2 people will play any of those games I just spent well over an hour listing :p Seriously, if you're reading this and you just skipped through it, just click on one of them at least. You might not regret it :D

If anyone's interested in other games like the ones listed above (mine and Shark's), check out freeindiegam.es [http://www.freeindiegam.es/] - there's a lot of weird experimental stuff on there which is very hit-and-miss, but it's worth a look. It's also updated every day or two, so keep a bookmark.

Also, how do I get ahold of Train [http://www.listal.com/game/train-3ds-virtual-console]? I played one of their other games, The Light [http://www.freeindiegam.es/2013/08/the-light-sergey-noskov/], and couldn't find it. Thanks!
Hell no I will skip the games you suggested me!!!
I will check all your suggestions. I really LOVE to play unknown games. I find many unique diamonds among them most of the time ^^

As for the game Train, you can download it here:

http://www.indiedb.com/games/the-train

Indeed very rare game and you must search a lot to find it [as I did].

Thank you for telling about their previous games. I didn't knew about this one.

Cheers!!!

The Aveyond franchise.

*Only a few years old, but done in the style of SNES classic RPGs.
*Fantastic story & character development.
*Great chiptunes soundtrack.

Things you need to know:
*The prequel; Ahriman's Prophecy, is free. But it has a beta quality to it...Different graphics, low resolution, terrible menu, inconvenient interface.
*Aveyond 3 is episodic & stupidly not numbered so you know which to play first.
*They cost $20 apiece at Amaranth Games & $7 at Bigfish if you're a paying member.

I will try at first the prequel it seems.
But 20 dollar for each game...I think it is a lot in my opinion.
How many hours is each game of the series?

Panzer Dragoon Orta for the original Xbox was really great. Sounds like a silly Japanese game. It certainly is, but with a twist: it was made from the guys that gave you Jet Set Radio Future! The OST alone makes this game super awesome.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gM6xMjEyOs8&list=PLBBEB343B1DBE077E

As a kid I always dreamed of the day I could save up the $100AUD to buy this game, because the demo was so good. This year I finally fulfilled that dream, but it turned out to be one of those games with limited (read: constant crashing) backwards compatibility on the Xbox 360. I am really pumped for Crimson Dragon though, the only reason I'm in for the Xbox One.
