I am a rising junior at UNC-Chapel Hill and will be moving into an apartment off-campus in August for the first time. Besides obvious things (bed, toilet paper), what should I include to have a swinging bachelor pad?

Gaming or tech-based responses win extra points.

Ps2, cheap (ish), cheap games.

Ipod is always nice, or some kind of mp3.

And many many socks.

1) Get the vast majority of your things cheaply, and ensure it looks cheap
2) Whatever you most enjoy doing, get the tools for it that you obviously can't afford, based on what the rest of your place looks like
3) Be sure to have wenches to wait on you

If you don't have central air, get an AC unit. It gets hot in the summer. As a junior, you probably know better already.

Entertainment center. A board and a few cinderblocks should do the trick.

Make sure you have enough Top Ramen to feed an army.

A swinging bachelor pad, as in one that will actually produce positive feelings in potential romantic partners?

Don't follow the "swinging bachelor" trope [http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Love_Machine_Theme] -- that's all about making it seem creepy and stupid. In general, don't be desperate and in-your face about it.

You need art. Bare walls say "I'm a boring empty-headed person!" In college, posters are generally acceptable, but filling your living space up with faddish movies and bands does make you look kinda shallow.

You absolutely need a clean bathroom. Dirty bathrooms say "I have poor personal hygiene!" Would you want to sleep with someone who had weird gunk growing on her toilet?

Both these suggestions are also about promoting positive self-image. It's pretty easy to get mired in your own filth in college. Making your living space feel like a home rather than a squat helps you feel like you're actually going somewhere in life... which, in turn, helps you actually get somewhere in life.

Get your own apartment, with some black jack, and some hookers.

Actually forget the black jack and the apartment.

Ahh, screw the whole thing!
