Stripper pole
Blacklight
Disco ball (remember you need a spotlight to go with this)
DJ table
Scoreboard on the wall next to the bed, with "home team" and "away team"

Also remember, if you keep the place dimly lit and have some decent shutters, everything that looks crappy in good light will suddenly look a whole lot better. As a bonus, you don't need to worry about cleaning as much. Happy decorating!

Some ideas:

- One of the current generation of consoles with at least five games for it.
- Some comic books from the 90's
- some 80's or 90's TV show DVDs or Blu-Rays
- A bottle of Jack Daniels
- Zombie Survival Guide
- A Guitar (electric or bass)
I never go anywhere without my copy of the ZSG

It seems the frills are covered so some useful stuff

A Desk to work at
Couch- an extra small bed against the wall works to(what I got)
Microwave- not all apartments have them
Towels and shower mat
Answering machine
Plates and utensils, glasses
Cooking stuff- pots, pans, spatulas, etc.
plastic storage bins- Invaluable store crap inside and use the top as a table nightstand
A good rug -spiffs up the place
Card table and folding chairs- to eat at
A lamp or two
also designate a spot for keys and wallets or you'll spend all your time lookin for them

Also get together with your your roommate and work out who can bring what he may already have some.

Enough alcohol to get two people drunk. This is a must if you plan on having girls over.

I am a rising junior at UNC-Chapel Hill and will be moving into an apartment off-campus in August for the first time. Besides obvious things (bed, toilet paper), what should I include to have a swinging bachelor pad?

Gaming or tech-based responses win extra points.
media centre pc underneath your tv, rip all your movies, music, tv and pc games onto it.
home brewing kit to make cheap booze (as long as that's legal where you are)
sky+ or tivo if your in the USA
home cinema system
50" plasma, or whatever you can afford
andy warhol prints, movie posters various other things
recliner
thats about all i can think of

Take this from a bachelor who has his own apartment:

Get a washing machine and a dryer. It will save you a world of trouble.

If you hate doing dishes, get disposable plastic utensils. Dont worry about women, just take them out for dinner.

pizza boxes make perfect plates.

In the event that you have anyone else than your friends over, some air refreshener will work wonders. Also a bucket with some cleaning products in case of emergency.

Never run out of trashbags. never.

Make sure people call before they come over so you can clean up a bit beforehand.
