Back to the Future Blu-ray Includes Free Game

The upcoming Blu-ray version of Back to the Future will include a special bonus for videogame fans.

When the Back to the Future [http://www.amazon.com/Back-Future-Anniversary-Trilogy-Digital/dp/B00198X0UO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1287337005&sr=8-1] Blu-ray anniversary edition is released next week, purchasers will get more than just three of the greatest time travel movies ever. According to Joystiq, the case also includes a coupon for a free Back to the Future videogame.

However, we're not talking about a revival of the Back to the Future adventure game [http://www.amazon.com/Back-Future-nintendo-entertainment-system/dp/B00004SVMX/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1287337228&sr=1-1] series.

Telltale announced in July that it was continuing the time traveling adventures of Doc and Marty McFly through its trademark episodic adventure format, and even brought back Christopher Lloyd [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/103186-Christopher-Lloyd-Signs-on-for-Back-to-the-Future-Games] to reprise his role. The series will be five episodes long and could take the duo to various time periods in storylines new to the franchise.

The free episode can be redeemed for the PC and Mac, though its release date has not yet been determined. Those that buy the Blu-ray can register now to be notified when it comes out. Surprisingly, the code included is not unique, so the free episode may extend to more than just purchasers of the Blu-ray. Back to the Future's anniversary set will be released on October 26.

Now I'm in a bit of a dilema, after buying a few pre-2000 blu-rays and almost seeing worse quality I promised myself I wouldn't buy another. Now this comes along, I want it, I love the 3 films, but I'm not sure if owning it on BluRay would actually improve the viewing quality, it would simply be for the game....

Already have the DVD, but it's a neat extra, if more companies follows I might look into blu-ray.

Wow, that's pretty awesome!
I might just buy the telltale game though instead.

$50 is a bit much, considering I've seen the first one a ton of times already, but it would be cool to watch it on Blu-Ray and play the game as well...

If the code is not specific for each blu ray, is it not in all then just a free game for all that know how to google a code?

Presumably it will be easy to find the code for the game online. Not that I condone doing this, although it sounds like the game publishers/distributors may be encouraginf this as it is episode one of five and will be good publicity.

If a BD Master is done right, it will improve the quality of the title. Maybe not enough to make it significant, though. It can't work miracles.

I do want the trilogy on BD simply because I don't have the DVDs anymore, so I might as well "upgrade." This news is cool, but does nothing for me in terms of a consumer making a decision.

A movie remake with a crappy game attached? Oh boy! I should go get a Happy Meal so I'd have an amazing toy to play with too! Maybe open a Crackerjack box! Or be really daring and open a box of children's cereal, I'd be rolling in the phat lewts then!

You obviously haven't played any of telltale's games.

I might buy this, I've never had the back to the futures on dvd, and this as good an excuse as any to buy it.

Quite a few of them actually, but can you honestly name ONE good game from a movie?
