Choose your spawn points more carefully?

If you have a full squad and your team's doing pretty well you should have 4 or 5 spots to choose from.

Try going on servers that ban "baserapers" too.

Haven't seen one yet, surprisingly, my first day playing Black Ops there was a dude aimbotting, nothing but headshots, the final kill cam was him in the chopper gunner instantly shooting everyone on the map, and he wasn't banned from steam. Less dickhead players on BC2 I guess.

Punkbuster is an extremely effective anti-cheating tool, so the amount of people using programs to augment their "skill" is pretty low. Of 500 hours playing, I've seen maybe 10 people who were cheating effectively (Not banned within seconds of joining the server)
To be honest, I've never had a real problem with cheaters on any online FPS for the PC. Counterstrike has first person spectate, CoD has killcams, and I only play on well-admined servers in TF2.

There are no hackers of the "aimbot/ modded weapons for insta kill" vaitry that I have seen, but I have enocurted some "People who mess around with the engine and landscape to make custom conten" ones on the fourms.

Those are the best type :p

You do get hackers on console (I did it once) They use something called a lag switch.

I have hacked in BC 2 and its pretty hard to tell when someone is. PB doesn't catch you right away folks. I was free to hack for a good month before it finally kicked me from a room and didn't let me play for 5 minutes before I started hacking again. I wouldn't say its rampant, but there are hackers so some games could have been that. Otherwise it is just time to practice again man. BC 2 is teamwork not solo play if you forgot. The hit detection doesn't make it any better either.

Too true, Punkbuster isn't as good as most would make it out to be.

Never had a problem with hackers. I stopped playing after being blown up by the gustav for the 137,649th time in a row. Did they ever fix that problem?

While I have seen the rare instance of someone exploiting a glitch (generally in the form of being somewhere players are not supposed to be able to reach), my experience with the game has generally been positive.

With all due respect to the OP, keep in mind most people playing Bad Company 2 have been doing so for the better part of a year now. And many of us are long time veterans of FPS games and Battlefield games in general. I mean, I don't go on murder sprees with a shotgun in every map of the game because I'm bad at the game, but rather because I'm good enough to make it work and there are plenty of people who have invested far more time and effort than I have at being good at the game.

The honest truth about such games is until you have a degree of understanding regarding what people are likely to do in a given map, it doesn't really matter if you're inherently good at the game or not. The way I started the game was that I simply played medic until I had a handle on what I ought to do. Until then I just picked people back up and got incidental kills. I had fun and helped the team more than if I had just choked rivers with my corpses until I figured it out.

Probably about the same size as any other game. The spawn killing has always been a MAJOR problem in Bad Company 2. The game is pretty much set-up to encourage it.
I may be wrong, but are you comparing spawn camping to hacking? Because spawn camping isn't hacking in any sense of the word.
If I am wrong, sorry for the misunderstanding.

I've never seen hackers, but the hit detection in BC2 is pretty awful, leading to many bullshit deaths.

I prefer the term "Zomguard"

No I wasn't comparing the two. I was pointing out how one of his core complaints is a characteristic of the game.

Its easy to spot hackers. They're usually the guys who sit in one place on the map with the big 50 cal sniper rifle.

The only other blatant hacker I've seen was this guy headshot sniping from across the map with one of the least accurate pistols.

Ah I see now. Sorry for the misunderstanding, I completely agree with your point.
