It could be worst... You've could played Ogre Battle 64 which takes a loooooooooong time to accomplish. After that, you get a bad ending because you didn't knew about "chaos frame" which is a secret meter telling you if the people love or hate you.

By the way, the game doesn't mention about this very much...

There is no point to Bad endings, sadly. When a game boasts having multiple endings, there shouldn't be any black and white "Good and Ugly" endings.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The ending you choose is based on your ideology (If you think humanity needs to be directed, if they can succeed on their own, if you don't know, etc). At the end of each, it basically says 'You made the right choice. Probably.'

The game doesn't come out and say 'THIS ENDING IS BEST AND THIS ENDING SUCKS', it's something you have to decide for yourself. Of course, there is a canonical ending. But then, that's the problem with a prequel.

bad endings, look no further then far cry 2, worst game ending ever
Even worse than Disgaea's 2 worst ending?

I think that's necessary to add Infamous 2 bad ending here. Although the bad missions made no freaking sense the Last decision of the game is pretty tough and entertaining. It is the only moral choice which makes sense and leads to two valid endings.

I liked how Heavy Rain had an achievement for "getting right up to the end of the game... and dying". Heavy Rain did alternate endings really well, I think. Things you had done, or failed to do, a third of the way into the game, affected the ending. Dragon Age (1) did it well too, I'm told, although I've only seen one ending. It was a damn good one though. After I finished Dragon Age I spent ages wondering what my character would do afterwards, making up a sequel in my head. Sad or what!

Well, you can always purchase Awakening. It basically continues right after Dragon Age Origins.

Yes, but it's not the sequel I want. The sequel I want is set five years later and my character is tracking down Morrigan because he wants to meet his son/daughter.

I just think this good/bad ending thing is just a phase. Soon technology will improve to the point where game companies can be bothered to add in many more shades of grey in between the black and white.
This, definitely.

I had pretty much the same thing happen. I was told that the meter would influence the ending but I figured if you were on the red side he would go for catherine and if not then he'd fix things with katherine so i had it near the middle and got a shit ending. pretty disappointing.

Oh god, I remember that. The sounds he makes when he's eating them is gross.
It doesn't help that it is mostly a lighthearted game in the rest of the time.

Also, i just can't get behind, why they give you the choice of cheating on you girlfriend in an undefined time span while still calling the "free," option, a neutral option. I don't know if that's just the japanese story writer who had a huge headache, during the production or if it really, REALLY, just is the japanese' (japaneses?) weird look, at a functioning relationship.
Keep in mind this IS the game where you run away from a monster, trying to eat you with it's butt cheeks.
